Yay! Thanks, Robin.

I got my first asparagus of the season at Westport this morning, and picked some lettuce from my garden. I love Spring! :D

This is one of my favorites, but it runs a relatively short season, opening later than most and closing down in the fall earlier than most.

Can't wait. It's also my favorite - Maria Louisa's breakfast burritos and Sunergos coffee are a Saturday morning breakfast made in heaven.

Mmm, yes! We're located just about exactly midway between Beargrass and BRFM, so it's hard to know which way to turn the car when we head out on a Saturday morning. BRFM certainly has its attractions as well. But ultimately, Beargrass wins for me because of its sheer size and variety and easier parking.

It's funny to hear you say those 2 points as being reasons you go to Beargrass because those are 2 reasons we don't go there too often. We always find that the parking is atrocious, but maybe that's because we need a wide space so we can put down the ramp for me to get out. Being that large certainly has advantages as far as variety but it also takes away some of the intimacy which is nice and some of the smaller farmers markets, it almost feels like going to a farmers market Mall in some regards.

One of the farmers at the Westport Rd. Baptist Church market offers a different approach to a CSA subscription and I love it! Rather than receiving a perdetermined box of whatever each week, you select what you want and Deutsch Farms deducts it from your subscription payment. No more veggies we don't eat or like coming home. No wasted box if I'm out of town. Their chickens and homemade products are included. Any balance carries over to the next year. Its a perfect setup for me.
