Yeah that's what I figured. But there has got to be a place that has steamed shrimp and cold beer.. Joe's Ok Bayou? If I have to I will drive to New Orleans for this fix but would rather have it here.

Also, didn't they start raising shrimps here in Kentucky after the whole tobacco subsidies ended?

Is this place open?!?
A dozen raw oysters on the half shell without the ridiculous prices of Z's ($36 if memory serves) or Doc Crow's? Just $14 bucks for a dozen?

HOW HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THEM BEFORE!?!

If you go, let me know what you think, Doug. Its predecessor in a different location (DuPont Square) was pretty good back in the '80s.

Rumors Restaurant in Middletown, having been at that location since 1985-1986'ish, is open and still dishing up the goods.

Where were they? Are you thinking of Rubinos maybe?

Er ... maybe? But didn't Rubino's get replaced by Rumors?

Honestly the only location I 've ever known for a Rumors is the one in Middletown.
I remember a very bad Chinese restaurant going in to the Rubinos location. (I remember they misspelled their sign.) but I also remember Rubinos opened a location out Shelbyville Rd on the opposite side from Rumors, kind of in front of the Ben Franklins. Maybe that's where the cross association is coming from. But a Rumors in DuPont? No, I really don't think so. (However, age and experience has taught me I could be wrong at any second!

Yeah, I think you're right, Carla. Thanks! In my defense, we are talking about almost 30 years ago!

Concur!

We go there about once/month, for great oysters (ridiculously cheap - and if they're small, we sometimes get a bakers' dozen or more to make up for the size!), oyster roast (only place in town for that), great wings (on the small side, but very good), and leave with a wallet almost the same weight as when we arrived.
