It's snowing in Germantown, and I'm not happy about it. ~I have a bet with a friend that wins me a home-baked pecan pie if the total is less than two inches.

Has anybody been on the roads lately? Snow I don't care about but ice...

At 3:30 p.m. cars are going by on our city streets, but they're a little slippey-slidey. The clear rain has changed over to something white and granular. I leave it up to the Northerners to tell us whether it's snow or sleet or snort or sneet or what, but it's not as scary as the clear-ice stuff.

Getty heavy snow here. White skies. Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye are cavorting on the street.

John's out in this! On the way home - says Brownsboro Rd is a parking lot.

I just saw someone post on Facebook that Grinstead is, too. Hope John gets home safe and sound soon! I think it'll be okay. This is nasty, but it doesn't seem to be a major ice storm, thank Bacchus.

I can attest to Brownsboro being a parking lot. Work was cancelled but I had to go to the bank. A 5 minute trip took 45 minutes- that was just 1 mile!

Did you specify *where* the less-than-two-inches would be? ;-)

Pecan pie sounds so good right now!

OK....So here's the deal. If you live in or are from an area where the words/phrases like; "Ya'll", "Bless your heart" or "How's yer mom and them" are used routinely (here for example)...You have NO fricking business being on the roads during -ANY- kind of winter whether event. Just go home, flip on a rerun of Dukes of Hazard and wait it out. The rest of us will be MOST appreciative.

Yesterday was the "perfect storm" of genuine lousy street conditions and first storm of the season-itis.

I left work downtown at my usual 4:30. Market street was more slushy/icy than anything, and traffic moved, if a bit slowly. Turning onto Mellwood was a whole nother matter, and the street seemed to have a good 1/2 inch of ice under the slush. I made the executive decision to turn down Frankfort Ave. instead of Brownsboro, and it was pretty much inching along until Stilz.

While I can understand a bit of white-knuckling in those conditions, what was really annoying were the idiots in their 4wd pickemups and SUVs who thought they had invincibility cloaks. No Dudley Dursley, your F150 won't stop or turn on a dime in the snow on your way to Hogwarts.

Exactly! 4wders and pick up truck drivers think they know how to drive in inclement weather and, in fact, snow may not a problem for them but ice is impossible for everyone. How many pick up drivers with nothing in their their light beds did I see skidded off the road on my way home? About 6.

I was out this Tuesday morning at 7 am on the stretch of hwy 22 between Goosecreek and Crestwood. Little slidey but not bad if you pay attention. If should be gone and melted by the time the sun comes out this afternoon. Saw one sand truck out. The off roads...different story.
