Pizza Hut reinstates manager fired after refusing to open Thanksgiving

After being fired for refusing to open his restaurant on Thanksgiving, a Pizza Hut manager has his job back.

Tony Rohr, who worked his way up from cook to general manager at the company, was told it was mandatory to keep his Elkhart, Ind., store open on the holiday.

"I just decided I wasn't going to agree to it," Rohr said. "All of these people the whole year had been told they were going to have the day off."

Luckily for him, Pizza Hut stepped in and "strongly recommended" that the local franchise hire him back, saying the company respects "an employee's right to not work on a holiday."

Well good! Because I am about #2 into my Thanksgiving day cocktail and I am ready to start making some phone calls.

I find myself allied with Steve P. on this issue (and another one today no less)! It's a Thanksgiving miracle!

Ronnie...yer gonna have to trust me on this for now...but I promise you, the older you get...the more you will agree with me.

Steve, I hope you will find a point of pride in my saying that I'm going to fight that prediction with every fiber of my being!

This as the result of a bunch of greedy corporations (and shareholders)...and a few "shoppers" who have little regard for their fellow man. The CJ (as but one example) in one of their "poll" questions asked if people were planning on shopping on Thanksgiving...4% of the people said "yes" and a whopping 94% said no...What needs to happen is for the 94% to start belittling these greedy bastards AND the other "4%" who actually shop on Thanksgiving. I'll start. If anyone reading this is a 4 percent-er you should be ASHAMED...Your lust for the almighty "deal" will personally help ruin the holiday for hundreds.
