True that, Dan.

However, you're really saying the same thing I am, maybe. Yeah, they'll be packed (although I'm not so sure about TWO). But from the standpoint of people who know and care about good food, they rank with, well, "Cheddar's, Golden Corral and the ever ubiquitous Olive Garden," not with Louisville's Originals.

I know I am excited (plus a lot of my friends too). I have been wanting to hit one of these places forever. However, two of them on the same block? Eh.. that'll be tricky. I hope them both the best but that's pretty intense competition right there. And yeah, I bet the folks at Eddie Merlot's feel quite the opposite of I do.

Then again who knows? I can sort of see them both doing well. For example, When ever I eat at El Mundo, with thier limited seating, it doesn't surprise me to see most people walk across the street to Sol Aztecas instead of waiting for a table. I've eaten at Fogos in Indy a couple of times, and it probably seats every bit of 200-250 people. And it's always packed and on a wait, even if you make reservations.....Anyway I'm looking forward to trying them both. :D

Dan Thomas wrote:Not to mention the fact that that we do have quite a few conventions that come to town, that this sort of thing would be very appealing to the attendees. For example, The Farm Machinery Show, FFA(who are back in town right now), Heavy Equipment and Mid American Truck Show are attended by large groups of mostly red blooded, 'Merican, flesh eating men.

Funny you should mention this. My husband and I were at Jack Fry's when the Farm Machinery Show was in town and half the place was filled with belt buckles and cowboy boots. Most of the guys ordered the filet (surprise!). These people come to town and spend a lot of money at our local places. When I worked for the beer distributor I had the restaurants along St Matthews and Frankfort Ave as my accounts. Places like Porcini's and Bourbons sold a lot of beer when the Farm Machinery show came to town.

The Farm Machinery show also accounts for the single largest income week for the 7th street strip joints. Beats Derby.

Oh, Robin. I've eaten at 2 or 3 around the country (including Boi na Braza around DFW), and they're much, much, much better than Cheddar's, Golden Corral, and Olive Garden. Sure, they're not a Louisville Original, but the meat is really good.

Fair enough! I'm sure the forum will give both of 'em a fair shot! :)
