Burger King does have a veggie burger on the menu. It's about the equivalent of the frozen veggie burgers you would get at a grocery store, but it works in a pinch. I get it with no mayonnaise. Because nobody ever orders it you always have to pull up and wait.

Red Curry with Tofu at Simply Thai is a dish I could eat every day. I found something at Costco recently that I've been eating most days for lunch: Madras Lentils by Tasty Bite. The description is lentils, red beans and spices in a creamy tomato sauce. It comes in a microwavable pack and it tastes like a good vegetarian chili.

The eggplant entree at Basa is tops.

Potato Gratin at Jack Fry's is awesome and the plate presents a fantastic medley of flavors.

Yep, anything at Roots/Heart and Soy. Love their Vietnamese sandwich (banh mi) and the curry fried rice.

Always, always get the Farmer's Plate at Lilly's. Always delicious, seasonal and memorable. It's not always called "Farmer's Plate," but it's always the last thing on the dinner menu. Mmmm.

Chilaquiles at Mayan Cafe are hearty and comforting. They also do a plate of their sides, which. Get sometime, because their sides are so good. Lima beans, obviously.

Spicy bean crispy tacos at El Mundo have always been a favorite of mine. I recommend getting the tomatillo sauce on the side, as it dampens the crispness of the taco shells.

I am gluten free as well, which further limits my choices at restaurants and especially on the road. Chipotle is a life-saver for me in that vein. If you aren't gluten free and are just looking for veg options in most smaller towns, Taco Bell is probably the best bet. They are awesome with substitutions (try subbing potatoes or rice for the meat). For vegan, order fresco style to get the fresh salsa in place of cheese/sour cream. The guac is vegan.

Prior to having to go gluten free, we really enjoyed Feast BBQ's smoked tofu. It is dredged in flour and fried, so I can't have it anymore. :(

Other favorites:
Earth Friends Cafe has a ton of vegetarian and vegan options, all tasty, with GF options.

Dragon King's Daughter - Vegetable Fried Rice, Spicy Tofu Roll (which is not really spicy but very tasty and filling thanks to the avocado on top), Vegetable Roll (light and not filling but tasty)

Martini Italian Bistro - Spaghetti Primavera (they offer GF pasta as well and are trained in avoiding cross contamination)

Taco Punk - Seasonal Veggie Mole Tacos....my favorite is when they are using kale and potatoes in spring and fall

Jen,

I tried this too and found it truly tasty. Love that it's shelf stable and microwavable in the pouch- great for lunches and I sent some to college with my daughter. I love it over brown rice.

Trader Joe's Indian Fare is quite good. They have shelf food and frozen. I prefer a restaurant meal, but in a pinch these are bursting with flavor. I had the Palak Paneer tonight and it was delicious (and cleared my sinuses)
