I don't see 4th St Live going anywhere. Also, I know plenty of people who would rather work downtown for the simple fact that a lot of locals avoid it. Tourists and businesses dining on corporate accounts are sometimes viewed as preferable to picky local foodies.

The repeatedly closing establishments in that location would give one reason to consider otherwise. Time will tell though.

Rather than the whole thing going belly-up, it's more likely that eventually all the establishments in 4SL will just be owned/operated by Cordish. They already own or operate a large portion of the tenants, and it has mostly been the non-Cordish venues that have closed.

The problem there is that even Cordish cannot keep an establishment open in their own facility. They close just as many as everyone else.

From my experience, the internal problems at 4SL are far worse and implosive than anything you see from the outside.

I don't know if I've ever seen any marketing for 4SL, which makes me thing they're not looking for locals. The only reference I ever saw to Gordon Biersch opening was on this board. I did go down there a few months ago for a free Kansas concert but that was the only time I've been in the past seven years.

Well, that's true, but I wasn't really counting that because they just close one, slap up some new signage, and call it a new restaurant.

+1 very true. Of course when the new place opens the politicians gloat for weeks about bringing new business to Louisville even though the taxpayers paid dearly for it and it replaced a business that failed (or at least failed on paper).
