Varanese Restaurant, 2106 Frankfort Avenue, will once again offer gourmet holiday meals as a takeout option this season. The menu choices consist of Turducken (a de-boned chicken stuffed into a de-boned duck, which itself is stuffed into a de-boned turkey), Roulade, and a variety of delicious sides, such as mashed sweet potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green beans, mashed potatoes, or cranberry chutney. Prices vary depending on the size of the Turducken and side choices. The meal is available for pick up 24 to 48 hours before serving and in order to guarantee pick up in time for the holidays, orders must be placed by November 18 for Thanksgiving and December 20 for Christmas. To place an order or for more information, please call (502) 899-9904 or log on to www.varanese.com/Turducken.php.

Another eat-at-home option:
Home Cuisine is doing a traditional Thanksgiving menu ( in a healthier way) : http://homecuisineonline.com/.
For $25 per person/ minimum 4 people it sounds like a great option. I've not tried their food yet, but the people who have rave on their Facebook, and one of their principles is the original owner of Jack Fry's.

(I've ordered their family meals for my family while I'm traveling this week to check them out; I'll post a review next week).

I just returned from my Thanksgiving dinner at Captain's Quarters. Normally I hate buffets of any kind; they are just too hard to do and do well. I have been to a couple of the big name hotels for Thanksgiving buffets and they have failed miserably. I have spent up to $40+ for a little more than mediocre meal consisting of little more than large, prepackaged frozen entrees served over stereo pots. Not today. CQ had a wonderful buffet presented well. Real mashed potatoes, a couple of unique salads, huge cocktail shrimp, all in addition to the usual turkey and very good dressing. As I was leaving I noticed another buffet line I did not visit. No matter, I was pleasantly stuffed to the gills. It was a fine meal and, for once, I didnt miss cooking. Money well spent. Thank you CQ.
