Technically, it's edible, I reckon.

I had a cockroach drop from the ceiling at a restaurant onto my table, and at the SAME restaurant on a separate visit, had a roach crawl to the surface of my table from underneath.

It was a really good restaurant, Steve! One that you might enjoy, I should add.

Probably. But our standards for good restaurants clearly diverge.

How did it get all the way over here in Arkansas? I found it in my white chili. Appeared to be a milk jug ring. Apparently it is easy to do this when making large batch soups.

RonnieD wrote:I dropped a white plastic ring from the lid of a Rice Wine Vinegar jug in a batch of White Chili one time. Search as I may, I could not locate the obviously round plastic ring in the 40 gallon kettle of chili. One of my stores found it later (before it made it to the customer) when they were preparing the batch for service.

Close call.

Because we use fresh chicken thighs and legs in our chicken dishes, we occasionally get pretty sizable bones, but we can usually fish them out as we cook. I got a whole chicken neck once! How does that make it into a case of thigh meat?

As a diner I've not found anything more exciting than a small pebble in any dish that was served me.

Ha! Can't take credit for that one.

It's really easy to do. When you take the cap off, sometimes the ring sticks to the jug, so you when you pour the last quart of vinegar out of the bottle, the cap decides to make a break for it, and even though you see it go in, when you attempt to retrieve (DO NOT reach into 195 degree chili with bare hands), it somehow slips into the folds of the soup never to be seen again... Luckily at 195, the bad boy is sterile!

Longhorn opened a new steak place here in Etown in June. July 3, we went for dinner. I was eating a baked potato (with the skin) and bit down on a piece of quartz. I spit it out. The manager immediately came over and took a look. It was actually TWO pieces of quartz that the potato had grown around.

I cracked one tooth, and chipped another. They paid for my root canal and cap.

I think paying for the root canal and cap was going above and beyond the call of duty, especially since the restaurant wouldn't have known about the quartz!

I'm curious as to how the potato grew around it!

Ate at a very fine seafood/steak place in Scottsdale - one of our favorite restaurants at the time. I bit down on a large metal staple when eating the salad (supposedly "hand selected" leaves!). Told the waiter, and showed him the staple. He looked at it, thanked me for showing it to him, and left the table. A few minutes later the owner came over, and said he heard I had bit down on a metal staple. I said yes, and showed it to him (still had both the salad and staple). He looked closely, said "this doesn't look like ours," and walked away.

Haven't been back.

We were in Honolulu at a Ihop and one of our pancakes had a bread twist tie inside of it. They were very nice (as we were) and they comped our whole table.

So you knowingly sent out chili to your stores with a plastic ring in it as opposed to throwing that batch out? Really? Nobody called him out on this? And on top on this, you choice to publicize it?

What if someone would have choked on this? Given most of my posts have been in the asshole nature, but you need to be called out for this. This is irresponsible and dangerous. How can anyone have faith in the safety of your food..

If a national chain would have dome this, the thread would be 200 pages and Robin would be preparing his pitchfork for a protest.

You are to food safety as Chik Fil A is to gay marriage.

Ding Ding Ding. How about this, J - Go out into the world and open a business, and choose then to never share with the world how you've ever F'ed up, and we'll all make fun of you for being a pansy. Go on with your bad self...
