Easy peasy ... head out Frankfort to St. Matthews, turn right on Breckinridge, and stay on it all the way to Bardstown Road. When it ends at Bardstown, turn left and it's in the big shopping center that comes right up on the right. Takeouts fine, but it's almost worth creating the time to sit down and eat in their wacky dining room, which may look like a western barbecue joint but is actually a replica of a lodge in Chennai, South India.

Definitely on the to-do list, Robin, but all in good time, the baby is yet a month old!

Dakshin is the best I've found in Louisville. It is easy to get to, but not the most convenient from crescent hill. It is way out on Bardstown Rd, so not sure the fastest route for ya. (it is between 264 and 265). Really depends on time of day. But worth the drive.....

I thought I'd bump this thread up again since I, for only the second time in my life, tried an Indian restaurant.

Seeing as I've seen many positive reviews on multiple websites about Little India AND they offer a lunch buffet even on Sundays, I thought I'd venture over to McMahan Plaza and try it out.

As I stated above, I only have eaten Indian food once before, and that was a buffet at Shalimar years ago. It obviously didn't impress me enough to try it again, and I vaguely recall having an extremely upset stomach afterwards.

People aren't kidding when they say Little India is home cooking. Instead of asking a bunch of questions, I just dove in and tried several dishes. My top two favorites are the potato curry and the chicken makhani (or butter chicken). I am not sure what they put in the butter chicken, but it's addictive (and I'm not usually one for tomato based dishes). I also liked the chicken biryani. I'm not one to ever turn down bread, so I ate more than my share of naan.

I did manage to snag a piece of tandoori chicken before I left. I liked the unique flavor.

As I went to pay my bill, the owner asked, "Are you done already?". I told him I would have been happy to eat more, but my stomach was full. I will be back for more of the potato curry and butter chicken.

Timely post, Terri! A good friend of mine just recommended Little Indian Cafe as the best Indian restaurant in the city. He has spent time in India, so I trust his opinion. Backed by your endorsement, it is now on the list.

Taj Palace gets my vote... The food has always been consistent and the service makes us feel like family every time we go. I prefer things a little lighter on the spice side these days and they are very accommodating in their preparation.
