FWIW, another walk down memory lane. That article show the current avg. German beer price to be about $12.50/litre. When I was there in the mid-60's we were buying fresh, Bayerische Bier for about $0.50/litre!! Ahhh, how things have changed!
But I think someone above mentioned Prague. I can recall in the mid-90's that I was buying litres for about $1.50/litre. That was just after the Velvet Revolution and just before they (the Czechs) had discovered how much cash the Yanks were willin' to dump over there!

I was there in 2002 and things were still ridiculously cheap. Once the Czech Republic joined the EU in 2004, prices began rising to get more on par with Western Europe, even though the CR isn't on the Euro.
