Still laughing at "ooh an Olive Garden". But seriously, we are too far west for Wegman's, but maybe a brance of Consentino's market out of Kansas City....

Just got back from Wegman's. It's nice and all, but I think there's been some exaggeration of its merits on this board. I have been impressed with the fresh fish and produce.

I'm not sure what Wegman's you went to but I can tell you from personal experience that there has been no exaggeration of the merits of this chain! We could only be so lucky as they have them come into this market. Unfortunately their stores are much much larger than the Doll's location could accommodate.

Isn't there supposed to be an Earth Fare opening up somewhere around here, though I thought that was in the East End?

Heck, long as we're stoking the fire.... How about Central market?
Damn, no - only 9 locations.

IKEA? A really, really small "mini-me" version of IKEA - like only with meatballs and dinette sets?

Yesterday there was some construction equipment in the parking lot at Doll's, though it didn't look like anything had been done to the building yet.

Anyone know more about this?

I saw it too, and noticed that they are doing major ... sidewalk? ... work along Brownsboro in front of Dolls and the adjacent shopping center. Something's afoot, but I don't know what. (Meanwhile, it does tend to back up afternoon commuter traffic along that route with one lane closed.)

Just announced...

I guess we'll soon find out if L'ville's dedication to "local" extends beyond the restaurant industry.

http://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/n ... ecome.html

A Kansas City, Mo.-based hardware store company has purchased the former Doll's Market building at 3620 Brownsboro Road.

As Business First reported, Sutherland Lumber-Southwest Inc. plans to open a 23,000-square-foot Sutherlands Hardware and Mercantile store this summer, said Perry Sutherland, president of the company.

I am almost willing to pay odds if anything else ever comes to the Burger's spot.
I would give you 3 to 1 if anything besides the building being razed and a parking lot for Louisville Collegiate appears. On-Street parking is horrible in that neighborhood.

Our neighborhood association will be very involved in whatever happens to the Burger's site, if someone wants to to something other than a market with it, you can count on that. On-street parking in our neighborhood is what it is - we're a neighborhood, not a suburban shopping district. You come here knowing that. I would think a parking lot for Collegiate would be pretty far down on the list of our "hopes" for what would go in there.
