Alright John. I respect that Steve is your friend and I readily admit that many people on this forum have said the same thing to me over time. They have spoken of his giving nature and profess admiration for him. These are people I also respect like CarolC, Justin, DanT, and even my favorite HByter JackieR.

I didn't call Steve out lightly on this nor will I discuss it further in the open. I am always willing to back up my words however and will meet SteveP if he wants to discuss this or any other issue he might have with me or me with him. I too call them as I see them.

An apology at the point would be meaningless. If I find I've wronged Steve, he will receive an actual apology from me in person and he will be welcome to it.

A referee won't be necessary but I'd be glad to have a beer with you as well.

As always, it's Wednesday. I'll be at the Fireside if anyone wants to join me. Cheers!

Hey dude...I was hesitant to enter into this...but the P man is my friend. I will always stand up for anybody I consider to be so. For what its worth..I can say a lot of things about Steve that piss me off,but being fake is definitely not one of them. You used the word "consistently", yes Steve is consistent. He is definitely one of the more pro union guys I know. A real stand up sort who tells like it like he sees it. He has no problem disagreeing with others and accepting the "asshole" name tag. Fake is not part of his character. I would ask that you apologize for that comment. Otherwise....I think calling him an A hole is perfectly fair game.
Also, if you two be willing...Id be happy to moderate a discussion over a beer at a local watering hole.

 .....Whoa Dude. I appreciate the gesture and all...I think... ...but just because you were an "A-Lister" for this weekends Garage Logic Burnt-Meat-Fireworks and Swill-Beer Festival doesn't mean you need to go to such lengths.

Why Shane...Does this mean we we're not friends anymore ? You know Shane, if I thought you weren't my friend anymore, I just don't think I could bear it. <HUGE sigh> I feel like I should offer you an olive branch of some sort....I know...perhaps a bag of Charcoal ???...

After pondering this invitation over a craft beer on the Veranda, I have decided not to accept your offer. Given that you are obviously much smarter than I am...and have probably given much thought to exactly what is wrong with me...it would be too much of a one sided discussion for my taste. I mean there you would be going on an on (and ON) in great and cavernous detail about exactly what is effing wrong with me, all the while I would be left to just stare at you and wonder just what IS effing wrong with you. Thanks for the invite though.

Fair enough...We generally dont tolerate anybody flaming a restaurant with some sort something to substantiate it...I pretty much feel the same way when it comes to our fellow hotbyters.

In Shane's defense, because for some reason I feel the need to stick up for you both 8) , he is considerably less verbose in person. As well as quite pleasant, welcoming, and non-judgmental. All good qualities in a real life person.

It's interesting how we judge the real-life personae of one another based on our online interactions.

I was going to say that it doesn't seem reasonable to draw any real conclusions on somebody based on what we see on-line...but then I realized that I do the exact same thing.

However, at least I keep it to myself. Which is a good thing, because in my head, you all are some major jerks.

Then again, up there in my head, I am extremely witty, so you guys probably shouldn't value my opinion very much.

I didn't know that charcoal was so controversial. My guess is that 300 pounds of charcoal will last Steve about a month. Keep the smoker fired up.

"i don't give a damn about WalMart or chains in general. If I need something and they are nearby, I'll stop without a second thought. If someplace else is closer I'll stop there instead. These are life choices we all make and I'm comfortable with mine."
Good for you, and I always love your posts, but that's where we differ. How can you have such particular thoughts about session beers and disregard the sterility of a Walmart? It's not even the sterility that should make you angry but the homogeny that is killing the town I'm from.
Get your measly savings Steve, it's the only reason id set foot in one.

The zen of cheap charcoal has us missing a bigger point. The host of our virtual pub has long had a policy of civility in our house. I'm a friend of Steve and he is as genuine as they come. I've also enjoyed conversation with Shane at a recent offline. While both of these folks perspectives have validity I can't help but wonder why someone would come into our pub and call someone else an ***hole and think that was acceptable behavior. Filters people, this isn't the comments section of the Courier-Journal here. Shane does owe Steve an apology as I would expect anyone to ask for one in our family. And while the world grows more crude and inept at civil communication I would hope we could continue it here at the very least.

Hey Ed,...Im not sure if Im reading your post correctly...by my calling Steve an A hole..its said among friends...its something we both have joked about. Steve is my brother from another mother. It was said under the the code of brotherhood. It probably isn't something everybody can "get".Going back to your point about our virtual pub... that's where I took issue with Shane...I found it out of line to say my friend is consistently "fake". Thats where I felt I had to call our fellow hotbyter out. My man Steve is anything but fake.

"You are consistently fake"

Shane..You are my least favorite poster in the history of this forum.

I don't know SteveP and I disagree with what he often posts, but the last thing I would use to describe him is "fake".

There are multitudes of "fake" posters here that won't post unless their view is in marching orders of Robin's bitter view of...Fuck chains and the Courier-Journal...FYI Robin is a fraud. As an example...Nice review on Chuy's. Way to get paid on a positive chain review even though you bash chains. Fuck chains, but that paycheck supporting them looked good... Fuck Chains...Nice TGIFridays adds on the forum. Fuck chains...I get paid to review restaurants yet I accept adverting dollars from restaurants on my forum Conflict of interest? What ....Have I ever given a bad review to any restaurant that paid me for advertising? What...The Courier-Journal issued a review to thousands? That isn't as influential to my forum's review from foodies.

Back to my point...SteveP speaks his mind regardless of the how the HotBytes cool kids will view his statements.

You, on the other hand, post 54,000 word posts and then logout , crack an over-priced beer and constantly refresh your browser waiting for someone to respond to your post. And your homoerotic relationship with you references to your friend "Chris" and obsession with Jackie, since you are a married man, are just fucking weird.

Maybe a little too much, Troy. I don't know you and you don't know Shane or myself, and this is too much. I'll happily retract this post if you want to retract yours due to shame of it's content. This was entirely too grotesque and offensive, and I'd be willing to bet that if this post lingered a while, you'd probably edit or delete it.
