Exceptional salad bars ... where?

Remember when you knew you were experiencing fine dining when the server said, "You can now help yourselves to the salad bar. . . "

There's a reason for that.

This discussion has helped me focus, though. I realize, although I hadn't thought of this, that a salad bar as adjunct to a restaurant doesn't impress me at all. I hit up Whole Foods' bar when I want a lunch salad specifically. Adding a pass through the bar on to lunch? Meh.

I like the salad bar at Bearno's. It especially makes me feel better to eat a big salad before the pizza buffet.
