Unfortunately I see this coming out of the pockets of servers more than anything. Not a fan of that, all we need is another thing to cut into servers tip share.

I wouldn't think it would hurt tips. Personally, I tip on the total bill including tax (and think many others do also), this would increase a tip from me.

However, it could cause people to dine out less, therefore effecting total sales and total tips.

Really didn't see this topic going here, but I'm game.

Just wanted to give you something fun to play with, Steve :D . I really don't even care that much about this issue - it was just my mediocre effort to stir the pot.

You can stir my pot anytime!

I know that i am new to this forum but i have been reading (and sometimes biting my tongue) for years.

This law already exists in cities of the 3rd class and below. Elizabethtown is funding a Field of Dreams (30 mil youth only sports complex) with a 2% restaurant tax. ImO this bill is the start of a plan to legislate the city class system out of existence.

The bigger cities want to be able to enact the taxes that the lower class cities can currently use.

I have heard that the bigger cities (namely louisville and Lexington) want to be able to use the 5% alcohol tax that is common in nearly every class 3 and lower "wet" community. This is a 5% gross reciepts tax on all forms of alcohol. 6% state sales tax, 5% city tax. Totalling 11%

Welcome!

No need to bite your tongue, though. I don't see anyone else holding back.

Thanks for the tax info too.
