Let's bounce this back up to the top since some fans may be heading NOLA way this weekend ...

How is Court of Two Sisters these days? I went several times many years ago and it was pretty darn good.

I have heard that it's changed. More of a tourist kind of experience lately, rather than great food and atmosphere, apparently. Just a big ol' all-you-can-eat brunch with "decent" food.

Had a GREAT meal at Emeril's NOLA. Flawless.

Mother's PoBoy w/ Debris

Muffaletta from Central Grocery

And about 10 other PoBoys from various places, all good.

The best thing there though is the "Charbroiled Oysters". Had them at Acme, Felix, & Drago's, and all were unreal.

I love raw oysters & rolled as well, but Charbroiled are just on a whole different level. Wish somewhere outside of New Orleans would make them this way, just incredible.

Oh, and try the Bloody Mary at Corner Bar in Jackson Square, best I've ever had.

I thought of it as a tourist place back in the '80s, but I was probably snarky.

Brennan's, however, is still good. And I mentioned Galatoire's in another thread as an old-school place that the locals still adore.

The grilled oysters are pretty tasty at Jeff Ruby's.

DanB wrote:Dear Bryan, I know a place in Nola that could change your life.... but I can't divulge the details. Back in '87 we ate there three nights in a row. The fish... well the fish is just ordinary. But in the back room there's a voodoo queen that can make you some Jimson Weed extract or a gris gris to cast a powerful spell on your enemies. We used it on UNLV and Syracuse and my beloved Hoosiers won the national championship that weekend. Really powerful stuff I tell ya. But see'n as you're a Cats fan, well I guess it just wouldn't be right for me to tell you where it is.

Dan, I think your beloved hoosiers will be watching from afar...no national championship this year!! :D :D

I will be heading back down to NOLA this weekend for basketball, concerts, horse racing and whatever else can be done in a 4 day weekend with 80,000 of your closest friends. Thanks for all of the recommendations. GO CATS!!!!!

Central Grocery - muffaleta sandwiches in the French Quarter

Used to be a French place called Brouchard's that was amazing too.

I was back in N.O. for my 50th High School reunion last weekend. Camillia Grill now has a place in the Quarter on Chartres. The lines at Acme are about 45 minutes every time I go. Mahoney's has a great reputation for Po Boys as does Parasol and Tracy's.

First of all, NOLA is crazy or more exact. French Quarter is. Dining became secondary. Stopped at Crescent city brewery twice, downstairs and up, and had good food and good beer: nice food presentations. Daughter and son-in-law went to Jackson brewery and weren't impressed with either food or drink. Saw sidewalk full of people waiting to get in a ham restaurant. Had pregame party at house of blues.
