Ah... do you have access to a Time Tunnell or something ?

Geez. Not the first time I've done that. Meant Corbett's. Good catch.

So I guess there's no Time Tunnel either?

Could be. I just can't use it as an excuse.

You could make a nice impression by having your guest stay at one of our lovely Bed & Breakfasts. (ahem)

Rivue at the Galt House! There is a private room that overlooks the river and the skyline. It seats 2 to 12 people. What a perfect way to show off the city!

That's ok Leah, you are honest about it.

To Brent M,
I would have to wonder why you send someone to Corbett's, which is in a far more utilitarian shopping center that Westport Village. I will have to agree on that recommendation from a food/service standpoint, and the actual restaurant is beautiful, but if you say Westport Village isn't a good representation of Louisville, how would Corbett's surroundings be any better? At least Westport Village is almost exclusively independent local businesses, and nobody has to pass a Lowe's or Costco to get in our doors. Just food for thought.

I still will agree strongly with Frankfort, as I grew up in the neighborhood and now live on the Clifton/Crescent Hill border. It is a fantastic place for families, many services beyond just dining are well within walking distance. And whoever said Basa is right on. I have touted their fare many times, and even said they may be my favorite place to dine on these very pages before.

Actually, aren't all of the neighborhoods, including Westport Village and the Costco complex, representative of Louisville? We're a diverse city offering nearly something for every taste, I believe. I think if you are recruiting, give them the full monty (so to speak) and let them see the diversity of offerings. Having said that, I still think Corbett's is my pick for this venture!

I said if they must goto the East End then Corbett's would be my choice...just from the food/service standpoint & definately not for the surroundings.

Westport Village has too much of a planned out, suburban upper middle class/Pleasantville/any town USA feel to it for my likings...but that is just my opinion

When Westport Village was brand-new, it made me crazy because it looked so hokey, like a Universal Studios set. In fairness, I have to say that the combination of landscaping and a surprising commitment to local businesses has altered my impression. I'm still glad I live inside the Watterson  but Westport Village now feels like a reasonably attractive destination to me.

I do still pick on Norton Commons, which just seems a little more faux to me and a little more tinged with the stench of "white flight." But I'll try to stay open-minded, and who knows, in another couple of years I might make my peace with it.
