Fair question. I was behaving myself until he put up both Coors AND Bud Light. 8)

Okay, back into my den under the porch. I'll try not to come out yapping and barking for another day or two. Spirit o' the season, ya know.

I love this forum for just this reason!

Sure, you have to have a thick skin at times...

But if you understand that the criticisms are coming from people who want you to do well (and are open to the collaboration,) you'll find that this place operates like a think-tank.

Nobody ever has it right all the time, or understands all perspectives.

And I'd rather work this out here, rather than learn it through the thousands of guests I'll be serving this year.

It's just like Barry Goldwater said: "Snobbery in the defense of better beer is no vice. And diplomacy in the pursuit of better beer is no virtue."

Our pricing falls in-line with Majid's philosophy of providing value on quality. In addition to our new standards, we will also have a seasonal (or, Wow! This is so good!) selection that will change from time-to-time.

The Usual Suspects $3

Bud Lt
Coors Lt
Miller Lite
Michelob Ultra

Thank goodness you are keeping the good stuff.

As a beer lover and pale/ipa fanatic, I'll throw in my 2 cents. I'd like to see a hoppy beer that falls between Falls City and Hoptimus. Falls City is not a pale ale in my book and Hoptimus is a monster. I love Hoptimus, but she isn't a session brew. I'm thinking something like a Sierra Nevada Torpedo, Founders Centennial, or Stone Levitation. I know they don't keep with the local theme, but the gap from Falls City to Hoptimus needs some loving.

Pretty much what Justin said.

I tried Falls City once and have no plans to do so a second time. Hoptimus <sigh> One of Mr. Pierce's better creations but not something I'd want to spend an entire evening with. Ignoring your locaholic-motif for ther moment, I've been loving me some Great Lakes Burning River and Commodore Perry for the past several months. I will suggest either of those two beers along with Goose Island Honkers Ale and IPA as four examples of tasty yet affordable swill to occupy a "tweener" spot in the arsenal.

Awesome suggestions, guys! And you just gave me a great idea...

Of course, one of my primary considerations is that of space- slots in which to place the beers.

With the 22 ozers coming in 12 packs, but not taking up much horizontal space, I might be able to squeeze one more selection in- and I was really looking for some more balance on the Lager side (I kinda felt I was a bit Ale-heavy.)

Of course, I'll know a bit better once I start putting everything in the cooler.

As a side-note: The staff was really jazzed about the upcoming change last night. They were hand-selling some selections! Now, just to put together a really effective training session...

UPDATE

So, we've come up with a good solution- we're gonna keep a loose case of Coors Lt around, just for the calls. Just not behind the bar or on the menu.

Instead, we will be featuring Rivertown's Helles Lager as the bridge between Falls City and Hoptimus.

Sometime in the next couple months I want to do a beer dinner- it seems apropos. Beer cocktail apertif and digestif and then pairings with the courses. This will be a fun way to highlight these selections, I think...

Beer is why White Castles are so much better at midnight.
