Re: Need Some Restaurant Recomendations

by John Price » Sat Dec 17, 2011 12:05 pm

Thanks for all the fine suggestions, folks! I knew I came to the right place. I'll see about collecting them and updating (basically replacing) the pitiful restaurant list we have in the computer.

Thanks as well to all the road warriors (current and former) who chimed in here. I've only seen it second-hand, but it seems like a tough job to be on the road for so long,. If I can make somebody's day a little better and help out a local eatery at the same time, well that just makes my day.

My new initiative has already born fruit. Just last night a guest came to the desk looking for a chain steakhouse and I steered him to Havana Rumba instead. He said later that his whole party really enjoyed the meal. Score one for the good guys!

P.S. If anybody has anything else to add to this thread, feel free. I'm keeping an eye on it.

Shiraz is right down the street at the corner of Hurstborne and Shelbyville Rd. Great reasonably priced mediterranean.

If you tell your guests to hop onto 64 West, and get off ONE exit later onto Hustbourne South, there are a ton of options. Shalimar and Cokos Lokos in the first shopping center to the right, or follow through to the Stony Brook area across Taylorsville Rd on the left to Thai Orchid or 2 Han's Mongolian Grill. All reasonably priced options and all local.

All good advice, Jackie, but I believe the sign on this one reads "Shah's Mongolian Grill" now.

I ate at El Torazo (the former El Toro) last week, and noticed an open sign lit up in their window, granted it was from across the parking lot.
