Congratulations on your liquor license! I wish you well, Matthew. You make the greatest iced-soy-latte I've ever had. And you introduced me to that new Goose Island black labeled beer with a peppered flavor. New to the market, economical, and very nice! Trip on.

Thanks Matthew. The name is "apropos". I was complimented when I purchased it elsewhere.

It's the beer culture capital of Germany, with around nine independent breweries and perhaps the greatest specialty beer cafe devoted to Bavarian beer, Cafe Abseits. I could go on and on, but I'll say that if you have somewhere to stay in Bayreuth, that's always the best idea. There are good beers there, too. Also, right around Christmas, most of Bamberg shuts down for three or four days straight. Any other time, go there for a day or two.

I'm sorry to see another coffee shop close. I love the diversity of different coffees in this town. Matthew, I wish you well in your new venture/adventure. Italy, College, a Liquor License! Sounds like a awesome trio to me.

Bon Voyage.

ah well, "DUDE"...to each, their own (Maß), I guess. I freely admit that I haven't been back to Franconia for 30+ years but, hey...we're both talking about 600+ year brewing traditions here.
Here's an interesting quote, I thought, from Stars & Stripes, "With a beer history dating to 1349, Kulmbach is comparable to another Bavarian city, Bamberg, which boasts the most breweries per capita of any city in Germany. But there is no rivalry between the two beer cities, Lore Müller of the Kulmbach tourist office said. Kulmbach has its own title of beer supremacy: “We are the secret capital of beer,” she claimed.

Thanks Sondra. Hopefully I'll get back into the coffee business before too long! I have some ideas for that.
