I have been candidly informed via Apple-Secret-Decoder-Ring Ver 4.0 that the term Food Dad, when used by the Curmudgeonly amongst us, is NOT appreciated. Therefore I will henceforth adopt the words "Food Brutha" as my special term of endearment. On the other hand Food-Buddha or The Dali-Foodie might work too.

Let's restate that: "Food Dad" is a term of special value for me from Jackie R ("Food Kid") who started it ages ago. It's not that I'll flame anybody else for using it, but it's just sort of like hearing a family term with a touching history used in a casual way by others who don't know the story. :)

I fixed the best bbq ribs last night ... I boiled them first in the crockpot for several hours, then finished them in the oven with my favorite Kraft BBQ sauce. They were cooked just right, falling off the bone I tell you. I served them as an appetizer with chilled Coors light before moving on to the main course of Papa John's pepperoni pizza.

Yeah but did the pizza have orange grease?

At the risk of sounding trite (then and now) I fought Robin for my right to call him "Food Dad". As I told him earlier in that other-worldly social media, I started reading LHB at the same time that Yarmuth wrote his last Letter from the Editor to run for and eventually serve congressional office. I cried when I read that last letter, and I used to refer to him as my "spiritual father" (flame if you must). Robin filled that void for me, and I began calling him "Food Dad" in real conversations with my friends and family. I eventually had the courage to say so in public on here, despite the fact Robin may only BARELY be old enough to be my dad. So, for me, Food Dad is a genuine term of affection. Thanks for all you do, Food Dad. LHB is more intriguing for me than ever.

I'm guessing the ribs were a hormone ravaged product of Wal-Mart and the Coors light was served in a frozen mug.

Despite the fact that I just got done cooking 80 pounds of pork shoulders...and thus could probably go a full month without hearing the word "Barbecue" I find the one dollar Rolling Rock aspect intriguing....and I've heard their ribs have seen significant improvement in the past year or two.

Shall we say tomorrow around 7-ish ?

It's a date if you can wait a week, gotta play with the neighbors furnace tomorrow night. In my past life ( back in the day ) I was a HVAC geek.
Sounds great though, I will be in touch if you can make it
