I want one

Now I'm craving a gyro. Is there one to be had along Shelbyville Road anywhere, St. Matthews to Middletown? Or, anywhere on the east side?

Cafe Lou Lou serves a Gyros Sandwich rolled in lavash, with tomatoes, onions, garlic and tatziki.

106 Sears Ave, between Burger King and Wal-Mart, near where, everyone?

The Old Sears Building

After reading these posts about gyros, decided to try Bosna Mak. We are both huge gyros fans and consider ourselves to be tough critics when it comes to gyros. I have to say that this was one great gyro. I have never had one on that type of bread before. Not sure what it is, but was a real light airy bread that tasted very fresh. We could not see the meat being prepared but it seemed as though it was cut off a spit due to the texture. Not to say anything bad about the Kronos precut slices, but it just isn't the same as the real deal spit cooked. To accompany the delicious meat was a nice well balanced tzatziki sauce in just the right proportion. My only criticisms was the addition of a little lettuce on the gyros. It is my feeling that a gyro is meat, sauce, onion and tomato, thats it. Bosna was a little hard to locate but well worth it. They also have a nice selection of various euro groceries worth checking out.

Bethy,

If you are looking for something more casual, Lonnie's in St. Matthews (by the Burgdorf building) does good chicago-style Gyros along with their Chicago hot dogs.

Second that on Lonnies, thats the way I had them up in Chicago when we lived there. Lonnies is a great place for anyone missing real Chicago eats.Only thing that could make a Lonnies gyros better is if they had the meat "cone" on a spit.

All I have down here is a place up in Wichita Falls " Gyro's and Kabob's ".

I dragged my Mom and a friend of hers in there and it was great.

I even got them to try the hummas, I called it a bean dip of sorts like the refried beans.......They are now big fans.
