Re: Discussion of Robin Garr's Roots review

I just ate this tonight. I've never been one for tofu and whatnot (if I'm going to eat fake meat, I may as well just eat meat) but I have to say that Roots/Heart and Soy have really put together some stellar options, even for us carnivores. Tonight I had some kind of salad with chili balsamic and udon noodles in chili broth (girlfriend had roasted root vegetables and green curry).

I have to say that their tofu is actually really, really good. I guess because it's fresh and made there, it has a slightly different taste and texture than the rubbery tofu I know and loathe. For the first time in a long time, I didn't eat around the tofu, I just ate the tofu. Everything we tried was great (and that includes the heavenly Thai iced tea), so even a carnivore like myself can get down with the veggies from this particular place.

Bonus points for the extra-helpful staff behind the counter. A wonderful carryout experience. Can't wait until they get delivery up and running, so I can avoid having to go anywhere to get that taste again.
