A sign like that would not offend me at all. It's non-agressive and quite a reasonable request.

To be perfectly honest though, I might avoid your restaurant during times I didn't have cash on me and quick access to it. Only because I would feel bad not giving you your preferred payment. Not everyone would feel this way, but I know myself, and I can see myself doing that.

Given the high rate of insecurity of any CC (and having had my identity stolen once already) I am eliminating CC purchasing altogether from my habits. You may be doing your patrons a favor by preferring cash.

Allison - your sign is no problem for me, especially since it merely announces a preference rather than a "rule."

Carla - congratulations for going on the no-plastic diet. You'll feel better in no time!

Allison I know there have been a couple of times when the two of us didn't see eye to eye on things but this time is one where I think it is perfectly acceptable to put the sign or even go one step futher and ask that folks limit card purchases to above a certain amount to be able to justify your expense.
