I was the Chef at L&N for five years total. I looked into using "local" lard and the cost was so out of line it was crazy. I'm talking about 75 percent more than the fishers.

Imagine this before ordering -- "oh by the way, do your prepare your Prommes Frites in locally raised, grass fed pig lard?"

How ridiculous. . . it's fat, does it really matter!

That's one of the dumbest things I've ever read in a food review.

In other words, it's the same to you whether your salad is dressed with olive oil or bacon grease?

That's one of the dumbest things I've ever read in a food review.

I'd say you're trying mighty hard to surpass that goal.

Robin, stop trying to act like Steve P who ridicules everyone, you just mentioned you weren't a Nanny monitoring a bunch of kids and then you go and act like one yourself???

You know what I meant, it's pig fat, does it really matter....

So you are implying that it would not be ridiculous to go into a restaurant and make that request?

Brian, I already said in this thread that I agreed the comment about locavore lard was a little over the top, but I also noted that a lot of people - including me - take a commitment to supporting local farmers seriously, both for taste and for health and for the local economy.

Frankly, though, I'm not arguing that point so much as to observe that your manner of speaking doesn't show a whole lot of class.

Would you walk up to Dana and say that to her face? If not, then you shouldn't say it on the forum. (And if you would, then I'll just stand back in amazement and say, "Okay, Brian."

Absolutely, I'd tell her that I think its ridiculous that she put that in the article.

Would you imply to me in person that I'm dumb, I highly doubt it. . .

Dana is a character.

She doesn't drink, yet she'll sit at the end of my bar for an hour, drinking water- watching me ply my trade...

She's a vegitarian, yet dips her hand in the naughty bits on the occasion...

Weighs all about a buck, yet powerlifts...

She's killing it right now- keep your head up and see that that she has been able to cross some of the boundaries that freelance writers haven't been able to step.

I want it publicly known, that I don't like you, BC.

I think you are destructive.

I think you're a drama queen.

I've never seen you in public, after all these years.

Run your mouth. You only do harm. No good has come from your prosthetilisations...

Ever.

Okay, Stephen, in fairness I need to remind you that I don't want ANYBODY talking like that. Let's not take sides. Let's just all try to get along. The forum is a better place when we do.

Of course, sir. Perhaps my language gets ahead of me...

Like doesn't equal enjoy here.

I enjoy his contrarian opines.

I enjoy his perspective.

I enjoy, (EDIT) his frankness.

Stephen, you may want to learn how to spell "vegetarian" since your in the business and prosthelitization, especially when you are trying to highlight your intellect and degrade mine.

Thank you guys for reminding me why it is a very rarely post on this forum and visit it at all less and less. Thirteen of twenty-eight posts are the same people arguing and calling each other idiots. The original point of a thread lost, and conversation so far off base I’m sure it will not be safe, more likely caught in a pickle. I never meant for anyone to call anyone an idiot, especially publically, just felt the need to defend a local restaurant a little. :|
I’ll regret this tomorrow…

And you did, Mark. I'm trying to corral the battle here ...
