You haven't seen Billy Madison? My condolences.

Steve, you definitely should check out Billy Madison...very low-brow humor, but Adam Sandler at his finest!

That movies goes well with a few cold Bells, Rolling Rocks or PBR's...take yer pick.

The scene where he calls Steve Buscemi to apologize is so amazing.

It's from 1995, so I'm guessing you could find it in the bargain bin. You could also buy it from Amazon for $9 or rent it through Amazon's streaming for $2.99. (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss? ... ly+madison)

Here's a Wikipedia breakdown for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Madison

The new cook at Mi Patria starts on Monday and the taqueria will re-open. It makes me nervous when an old favorite gets a new cook, but I'm certainly happy to have them back and remain optimistic that they will still turn out some great tacos

Has anyone tried it since it has re-opened? I've been afraid to go in, as I really liked their food and don't want to be disappointed if it went downhill.

I walked past tonight and the place has changed big time. The front grocery section is gone and tables have been added in their place. I couldn't see back to where the "restaurant" was, but the place looks different. I'll have to check out the food asap.

Clearly they've let the public down by serving beer that wasn't made by the righteous.

Hey Art,

What's the deal, Righteous Beer and Mexican, Budweiser and Cupcakes?

I've been around here for a while too. Probably more posts on the old board, but starting to realize there was a reason for that.

Posting just to be provocative is not interesting reading to me. If it is to you, Robin, or the rest of the community then I am not in my element and will depart. Shame, because this used to be a very cool place that had a lot of value to me.

I've already had a talk with Art, Doug, and also posted a series of statements in the unexpectedly contentious cupcakes thread

Thanks for the reminder. I appreciate your concern and share your opinion. Please don't leave. We need good folks to maintain a sensible majority.

And don't be too rough on Art. If it's just his beer talking, as I suspect, then he'll be embarrassed in the morning.

Understood Robin and appreciated.

I was able to get through he who partook of Hungarian Brandy and will get through this too. If those individuals put as much effort into supporting the local foodie community as they do being provocative this would be a better site, as it was before.

I stopped in yesterday afternoon to grab some carryout and spoke with one of the new owners for a little bit.

It's now called La Jugada and I believe they're styling it as a sports bar. They are getting rid of the chicharones contraption and putting the bar in its place

The menu has changed slightly, with a few more dinners added, but is mostly the same.

The new cook is one of the gentleman who had worked in the kitchen under the previous ownership.

Fortunately, the food remains similar to what it was before. The green salsa was just as awesome, too. I did notice that the skin layer was left on the lengua, which didn't particularly bother me or affect the flavor, but I imagine some would find off-putting.

Other than that, the tacos were just as awesome as ever. I noticed that the carnitas were diced fine, as opposed to as in chunks, which I haven't seen before, but actually preferred. It was crispy and I enjoyed the texture. I also tried the asada and pastor, and they were every bit as good as before.

My girlfriend tried a new item, the vegetarian quesadilla, and it was solid as well. IT was pretty a pretty straightforward quesadilla with peppers, onion, spinach, and mushrooms, but was well-prepared and very enjoyable.

The one thing I didn't care for was the rice. It was fairly bland. However, to be honest, I never particularly cared for the rice at Mi Patria in the first place.

Regardless, Mi Patria, actually La Jugada, is once again my go-to for tacos.

It is true that they don't have any good beer, but I still enjoyed a Bohemia while I waited for my order.
