Hi Richard,
If this was your first visit you might want to give them a courtesy pass today. On our main national holiday a lot of places are closed and it's probably a tight decision to do that or try to straddle the fence with lower staffing. I bet a lot more have call-ins or no-shows, you know what I mean. If the poor guy was alone, working diligently and wasn't actively flashing a bad attitude he was probably doing the best he could under the circumstances. With only one person staffing the place only a few orders can make quite a "bubble" to work through. I definitley understand going next door and we've done such on a number of occasions (not re: Bunz, just in general). But unless there's outright bad behavior we never ding a place that's slammed with short staff situation.

Completely understand and agree. The point is he made NO attempt to take care of the problem. Had he said, I am here alone, and taken our order or given us cups to 'hold' us in it would have worked. But basically he ignored us to work on one order. You might have to cook one at a time but you can take a minute to write down next one and be planning it in your head.

It isn't FAST FOOD witha drive thru made for quickness. The burgers are handmade and cooked to order. The burgers are specialty burgers, not every burger gets ketchup and mustard. They take time to cook and dress.

We've been there several times before and it has always been good food, exceptionally good burgers in fact. This time it was the service, or rather, the total lack of customer service.

We'll probably go back but if there is only one person working and one or two ahead of us, it is not that far to other places on Baxter/Bardstown.

Although the wait may be a little lengthy at times, it's rarely so long that someone with a little patience can't handle it, especially given the fact that they are short staffed so often. You mention going to papalino's, I've had to wait 30 minutes on a slice quite a few times. Maybe I can empathize more than others since I've worked in restaurants.

I have had to wait 20-25+ minutes at Papalino's too. But they took my order in 2 minutes and have a sign at the register that says how long for a piece, a pie or a calzone. That day it said 8 minutes for a slice - we got three - and had them in about 5-6. You kind of expect a pizza to take a bit longer to cook than a burger.

Seriously, I've been many times and I've always seen at least 2 people working - sounds like there was a staffing issue when you went (and possibly an undertrained worker, at that, considering they didn't expedite the orders more efficiently). I can't argue one bit with your report, but I'd give them another try. I've never walked away feeling like the wait wasn't worth it (thank god for fun phones).

First off Jackie, you are so naughty!!

Was not our first visit and as I said in an earlier reply, we'll probably go back. Burgers are really good there. Service that day, not so good.

I don't expect a par-baked slice of pizza in a 450* oven to take anywhere near as long as a burger. Even a med-rare burger should take about 6 minutes. So one person cooking (assumingly) multiple burgers on a ticket, cook off fries for that order, and make milkshakes as you originally mentioned should happen in less time than reheating a slice of pizza?
