I'm horrified that I have the only turkey dog vote so far. I feel so shamed.

It's okay, TP. We're diverse and inclusive. 8)

Hey, I'm sitting here with the only "other" vote. I meant vegetarian, but not necessarily vegan. A number of the meatless products use egg white as a binder, making them not vegan.

Just in case you were wondering about armadillo hot dogs, or something.

Vegan, vegetarian, whatever ... I'm just grateful to Stanley Chase of Morels for introducing me to LightLift Smart Dogs. As long as you cook them right, they make a damn fine alternative to regular dogs - at 70 calories per dog and no saturated fat. Pop one of those babies in a Morels banh mi, and I challenge you to eat one "blind" and guess that it's a meatless dog. It's not that it's a vegan alternative, it's that it's a tasty and healthy alternative that takes hot dogs out of the guilty pleasures category.

Iguana ! The White meat of the 21st Century and you don't have to pluck the feathers off of them, its just peel and eat! Can probably use their skin as a multicolored natural casing with lots of "snap"..

Included in my loot procured from Jungle Jim's this past weekend includes several Queen City Sausages and and some Packo's hot dogs. I'll be eating all of these on pretzel rolls from Servatii! 8)

Just wish we could get some good White Hots around here! About the only place I've ever seen them outside of upstate New York is an a Wegman's supermarket of course they are based in upstate New York. Throw some of them a hot grill until they pop open and you're really talking about some good eating!

Wish we would have taken some pictures of our food we made on the fourth, we did all hot dogs!! But we got them from this awesome bon appetite article my brother stumbled on...(http://www.bonappetit.com/magazine/2009/07/international_hot_dogs?mbid=synd_yshine_bon

We made the "Columbian" - the ham
The "Chilean" made a spicy chipotle mayo for the sauce instead
& The "American" used Gardeins pulled porkhttp://www.gardein.com/products.php?p=8 with fresh made coleslaw and bbq sauce.

Browse through the 80 different hot dog combos, there's still a bunch I have to try. The "Columbian" seemed to be everyone's favorite, but its probly because it has crushed up potato chips on top. Hard to go wrong there :)

Made me look! You're right, though, and even better. I'm pretty much convinced, Stan ... they might be just a little bland all alone, but cook them right - thanks for the tip on that - and dress 'em up with good spicy or bold flavors, and that tradeoff in calories, fat and no-animals-harmed is easy for me to live with. Hot dogs don't need to be a guilty pleasure this way.
