No, I made the cookies Deb sold in the cello bags in chocolate chunk and chocolate walnut espresso. We also make 20 other varieties at our store in Lyndon.

Sherry,

Glad you loved the pastries! Sorry, but those desserts: the Bluegrass Blackbottom Bourbon Babas (B5) and the Red Velvet cake were made for us by Dolce/Rachel Colvin. Rachel doesn't do indivdual consumer orders, but if you are craving a B5, check Bourbon's Bistro. I believe they are on the dessert menu there (at least they used to be).

Hello Heather,
What a great foodie resource. I'm from NY originally and only in Louisville for a year and a half. I look forward to sharing food talk on this venue. If any one is attending the Taste of Louisville, we'll be there sampling our cookies and spiced nuts as well as specialty items available for the holidays.

Every once in the while I get the hankering for the frosted sugar cookies at Heitzman's. They remind me of being a kid again!

Leah S, your cookies were a huge hit! Thanks so much, I'm sure we'll be back for more.

There is a cookie place in lagrange called Q's culinary creations owned by Karen Quiram the fomer executive chef from Standard Country Club. She started the business for kids that have a certain type of protein allergy and it has grown to several types of gormet cookies. I don't know how muchshe sells retail, but I know she is a big hit with country clubs.

Karen's cookies are excellent -- nice and chewy and loaded with chips, nuts, etc. She also does decorated "themed" cookies around the holidays, plus "black and whites" and rugelach at Christmas. All of the Paul's Fruit Markets sell them.

Another vote for Karen - I have a toffee chocolate chunk cookie at the La Grange Farmers Market every week! Her website is http://www.qcookies.com.

Najla's

by Sherrie G » Sat Sep 29, 2007 9:33 am

All this talk of cookies got my mouth watering and after a visit to the dentist (ugh), I felt I deserved a sugary treat. I ventured over to Najla's (on Vine Crest) and was pleased with the great service I got from Stasia. She mentioned that she has some fresh out-of-the oven Snikerdoodles (my favorite). So I had to have one. It was perfect.

I ended up buying my new neighbors a Welcome-to-the-neighborhood variety pack and got a couple dozen for hubby and I as well. I couldn't remember the four flavors I bought for my neighbors, so I ended up calling the store. Stasia said to call anytime with questions, but I doubt she expected to hear from me so soon.

Najla actually answered the phone and she was very nice. She made sure to mention (as Stasia had) that the Snikerdoodles cook a bit longer than the others and they spread more so give them more room on the parchment.

I'd recommend Najla's any day. At their store, you get great, personalized service with detailed instructions (verbal,as well as printed). And the cookies are delicious.
