India Palace Floor

by Gary Guss » Sun Sep 16, 2007 8:17 pm

We've noticed its pretty bouncy, the last time I felt a floor like that it was in KC in the Crown center about a week before it collapsed. Hopefully this is just a little bouncy due to some imaginative Kentucky framing method.
I try to stay at arms length from people when I'm carrying a full plate back from the buffet for safety's sake.

bouncy

It's definitely bouncy and can be a bit disconcerting when someone walks by while you're trying to eat. The center of the room is the worst so I usually try to sit near one of the walls or in one of the elevated sections.

I work right off Hurstbourne Lane and have eaten at both Shalimar and India Palace many times, and I have to give the nod to Shalimar.

If you haven't had Shalimar for a while, you need to stop back in. They have stepped it up. Larger selection of items, and they are doing a great job of keeping things fresh and warm.

Having said that, India Palace is a fine place. You won't go wrong either way.

Well ... I went at the first of the year - I mean, the actual week after New Year's - and had a very poor experience at Shalimar. It was a little late in the lunch hour, but that's no excuse for pans filled with nothing but liquid and no meat or vegetables left in them, and staff standing around with their hands behind their backs, literally glaring at diners in hope they'll leave. It really and truly put me off. This was the second such experience I had had over a fairly short (few months) period, and at that point I put them on my "meh" list for a while.

But that being said, I've been a fan of Shalimar since it arrived in town and really hated to see it slide like that. I'd be delighted to know that they're back on track. Still, I'd be tempted to go over around 1:30 (I'm not talking about five minutes before closing here) and see whether the "let us go home" issue has been cleared up.

I was just at India Palace for lunch on Saturday. And I did notice that there Sunday lunch buffet is through 3pm. I don't remember how much the buffet cost though.
