Is there much to see at a BBQ competition on the first day (Friday?). Can't make it to Jeff on Saturday which would seem the more interesting day.
Matthew,
Fridays are pretty cool and (depending on what you're looking for) in some respects are often better than Saturday. Speaking strictly to the J-ville thing this weekend...The music line up looks really good on Friday night. There is an "artisan" area with people selling various art and crafts (if you are into that kinda thing). This years event features the previously mentioned addition of the craft beer tent, which I personally think will be a big hit...at a minimum it is a welcome addition and will help set J-ville apart from BBQ-fests. There will be (I'm told) multiple vendors selling BBQ (note: due to heath regulations and liability teams are not allowed to sell to the public) but I really can't comment on the quality of the food, as I've never taken the time to sample their wares. If you are interested in picking up a few cooking tips, Friday is the time to do it as the competitors are in "laid back" mode for most of the evening...So yeah, I think Friday will definitely be a good time.
