My-Cast, IntelliCast, AccuWeather, Weather Channel MAX (or the free applet), WunderRadio ... am I missing any? :D

annemarie m wrote:one more "weather radio" that's the one i downloaded from the itunes app store a few days ago. it's great. everyone has been asking me about this app, since a lot of people don't have a weather band radio. plus save the money on a weather band radio about $30.00 and get this one. this was free a few days ago, not sure if it's still free thru itunes. works flawlessly.
as of now there is a tornado watch for jefferson county, oldham, bullitt, shelby, nelson, specer, meade, henry, trimble...
and it makes the same buzzing warning just like the national weather service...
gotta love this technology...

What is the name of that applet, Annemarie? I'm delighted that it works for you, but you're not giving us enough information to go get it. :D

Wunder Radio is a fine applet from Weather Underground, loaded with weather radio and regular broadcast stations, too, but it's $5.99.

Is it Radio NOAA? That one's free. It looks pretty basic, but does the job: Select country, then state, then city, and away you go. :)

It barely missed our old house. <sigh>....Sooooooooooo, I figured that might be an omen and I went out and bought one o' them there fancy pants weather radios. Problem is, I keep looking for the "mic" button soes I can talk to a few airplanes. :P

annemarie m wrote:wait i went into my itunes it's listed as: "i map weather radio"
on my screen on the phone it says "weather radio" but in itunes it's called "i map weather" hope this makes it clearer.
here'a picture on my screen and in my downloads:
also it mentions indiana too.

Okay, great! If you search for "iMap Weather Radio" in the App Store, it comes right up with the same icon you showed, so we've found it.

Problem is, though, it's $9.99 now.

I'd recommend the one I mentioned, which is basic but FREE.

Search "Radio NOAA" in the App Store.

If they break into the finale of American Idol to reiterate that there is a storm then there are going to be a lot of pissed off people - myself included!! :(

I'd been checking Weather.com periodically and based on that my wife and I went out for a fast walk to Cherokee Park and around the Loop and back thinking it would storm by 1:00. Nothing happened so I mowed, etc. and we did some other yardwork. Then I rode my bike down to Waterfront Wednesday tonight as about 4:30 it said high probability of precip would hit about 10PM. We had a really good evening and all three bands played with no rain, though they apparently accelerated the schedule as the last band, Over The Rhine, finished about 8:35 instead of starting at 9:00 as the info online said. Great relocation by the future pedestrian bridge, BTW, worthy of doing it there in the future esp. when the ped bridge project is completed. Got back home about 9:00 with no rain so far. Weather.com seems to keep pushing the high probability of precip off a couple of hours. At present they predict stormes about midnight.
