Will, would it help, if we go that route, if I commit to "scrub" the post (delete obsolete items) every day or two?

The best forum solution I can think of would be a new forum /sub forum where each owner could have either a sticky with their weekly locations or they could just create a weekly post saying where they would be...
I'm not sure what the plan for Lil Cheezer's "Louisville Street Food" Website is, but it would be great if the vendors banded together to make a website that kept track of where the different trucks are and where they are headed... with menus, reviews and links to this forum, of course.
A web forum isn't really the ideal way to monitor the location of food trucks, in my mind.
I love the food truck concept and will spend $ when I see them out.Bill P wrote:Robin,
While I don't feel the need to treat street food differently from other food establishments, it seem that you and others feel there is some big need. That said, please do not make it a permanent sticky as I think permanent stickies for non administrivia issues add clutter to the existing forum. I found all those stickies during Derby month a distraction, but could tolerate them since I knew they too would eventually pass.
I'll reluctantly vote for a separate forum, preferably toward the bottom of the index page. As others have mentioned, a vendor website or the various social networks seem better suited to the meeting objective.
In the end, I trust you will make the right decision.

The problem with that is that I actually want HotBytes to be THE portal for local food and dining, and I'm not really interested in the Balkanization that inevitably occurs when people are wandering off to various blogs, social media and websites.

Robin Garr wrote:Yes, but only if you become as trendy as food trucks are right now. It's a new and growing industry. It's hot. I support it.

I support them too, trendy or not.Robin Garr wrote:Frank question, David, and please don't take it as a personal reproach: Do you think it is reasonable for bricks-and-mortar places to drop a dime to the regulators on a nearby food truck that they see as competition?
No, I do not think it is reasonable. I do think it is reasonable to set-up a separate forum for posting current truck locations.

Discuss among yourselves. Guess I'm not a cool kid who is up on all the hot and trendy stuff.
