They do, and I've tried it and was very happy. That said, they've taken pains to build a stylish, comfortable venue, and it really deserves to be thought of as a sit-down place. But if you really want to take your pizza home, they will absolutely give it to you in a box.

As Robin said, they do do carry out but to fully enjoy this type of pizza you need to eat it when it has just come out of the oven.

Lunch there the other day was extreamly wonderful, and reasonable.....I had one of their signature pizza's, tweaked by a recomondation from my most knowledgable server, that was THE BOMB....everything extreamly fresh, and very, very good.....also, got a "tour" of the very hot oven.....OH MY, is that a hot kitchen.....

I will definatly be back!

Went early on Saturday night (5:30 to 6ish) and was able to snag a table for 4 adults and a high chair right away. The buzz did not disappoint -- beautiful, chic-feeling interior without being too much, pleasant atmosphere, friendly service, and completely killer pizza. Fast, sizzly, and so different from anything else I've had around town. I think I'm in love. I can see how this is much better as dine-in, though. It would still taste great at home, but I think it might lose something as that famous heat dissipated. Crust was crispy blistered outside, soft and doughy inside -- delish! High marks for The Bardstown pizza, dying to try the St. Matthews margherita next time. We found 3 pizzas just right for 4 adults, plus some decadent chocolate cake and a delicate, silken tiramisu marred only by a fussy toddler -- my own, so no one to blame but myself.

If you're tempted, do it. Go!

Laura you got there at the perfect time. I'm glad we served up some tasty food for ya. We are going on a wait fairly quickly now, and are in the weeds from like 6:30 to close. Seems like we are just skating by with enough dough some nights but we adapt readily. Lunch has become extremely busy now too. My advice is get in before noon for lunch, and 6 at night and save room for dessert. Our pastry Chef Penny makes the best chocolate cake, canoli, and tiramisu I've had. 4 words. Hand made Lady fingers! It took me 3 days before I was allowed to try a slice of cake (Customers Only haha) but it was worth it.

Not Happy!
The wife and I have been there before and really liked the pizza and atmosphere.
Tried to share it with some friends from another town last night. We planned this a week ago. I sent them a menu and had them pick 2 pizzas, my wife and I picked 2.
We were to meet them at their house at 7pm and they live 30 min. away so I called in a To-Go order a little before 6pm and was told they don't do carry out between 5:45pm and 7:45pm!
Now what was I supposed to do? They wouldn't budge and refused to take my order.
No where was this posted on Facebook or their website.
I then had to scramble for something else.
I can't tell you how pissed off I am.

Hey Joe, I know it was frustrating we couldn't serve you (and around 30 other people) on Friday. We let you down that night, but the shear volume of business meant something had to give.. The call to restrict To-go orders for the 2-hour period was made on the fly, shortly after our bustling dinner opening stampede (approx. 5:30pm). It was a group decision (owners/chef/kitchen) made to insure quality of both dine-in and carryout orders. I still stand by that as the right choice to make. Believe me, we care about each and every single pizza we send out no matter where its consumed. To have added those additional orders in to the mix would have meant many many more disgruntled people. I hope you can look past this and enjoy future experiences with us.

On a side note, the carryout limitation is only in place Friday and Saturday for 2 hours. Now, while we do offer carryout orders, I do not recommend it unless you can eat it right after it is boxed. Like others have stated, the time, effort, and quality ingredients we put into our food can be quickly degraded when a pie is left to sit even just 10 minutes after being made.

Sincerely,
Mark Bellou

If there was ever a restaurant who I would encourage to have a "no carry out" order policy it's Coal's. The superiority of the product right out of the oven compared to a carry out order is remarkable. (I've had both.)

This is not the usual pizza. It is an entire experience meant to be delivered hot out of that oven and consumed in that space. It's worth a wait, it's worth the time and it's worth whatever it takes to go to the restaurant and experience the pizza the way it's meant to be consumed.

We tried Coal's for the third time last night and they are continuing to improve an already great product. The beer list is now pretty good, though I was sad to see that Southern Tier XX IPA had been taken off the list. The crust is better than ever and the toppings were great as always. Keep up the good work.

That is what the waitress told me; said it wasn't selling enough. Sierra Nevada Torpedo filled in as a nice replacement.

SO I took my family here last Friday evening before the rush. We sat down, ordered soft drinks, and looked over the menu. Everything looked fantastic! We settled on the white and the waverly. The only problem was our 17 month old. He wasn't having it. WOuldn't get in his high chair, wasn't too happy to sit in my lap. It just wasn't working. We weighed our options and even though we really wanted to eat there, we decided it would be no fun for us or the people around us if we stayed. We informed our server and tried to pay for our coke and sprite but he wouldn't let us. I was bummed! Can't wait to get back. Usually our little ones are great in places but not this night. We will be back soon.

Thumbs up to both you and Coal's.
