Re: ? about Rolled Oysters at Homerun Burger

BevP: Please accept my apologies. It's obvious that I insulted you by my response to your inquiry. I have been around Rolled Oysters since my Hungry Pelican days starting back in the 70's. And Rolled Oysters - TO ME - are mostly breading. I wish I had not muddied the waters by suggesting you try the Pan Fries at the two remaining Hungry Pelicans. (I honestly wondered if that was what you were expecting.) My father sold his eleven Hungry Pelicans to his managers/supervisors in the early 1990's and has not had any input in the day-to-day operations since then - just a sentimental interest. And he loves their Pan Fries.

Since we added Rolled Oysters to the Home Run menu for the Lenten season, I have listened to many of our customers speak nostalgically of their happy memories sharing Rolled Oysters from Mazzoni's with their families. And yes, many of those folks have compared ours favorably to Mazzoni's - (thanks, Mark Head, for the shout out). My managers and I try really hard to be the best and serve the best everyday. We not only let you down with our Rolled Oyster but with my answer to your question. I promise you that it was not meant to be a lecture.

This has obviously gotten way out of hand and I too am sorry...yes I felt I was being lectured or talked down to, may have been a mispersception on my part.My anger or irritation was only added to by being called down by other members of the forum, I am 51 years old have lived in Louisville my entire life, I have had the oysters for as long as I can remember starting out picking around them as you described as a small child. In the 70's while working with my Mom at the sewing factory putting my self thru nursing school we would walk to Mazzonis on 7th st and pick up oysters for the whole factory...the the factory was at 7th and Main what is now 21C the museum hotel. I have been blessed or cursed with a somewhat fine detail in my memory. I have met you I believe when you and your father reopened the Kips Cove the final time just before Home Run Burger....We were regulars during that incarnation

I do not usually enter into these discussions...... but felt the need to speak up.....

Bev, when i read the response to you from Kathy i felt it was a bit condescending as well. so, you were definitely not alone in feeling that you were being lectured/spoken down to. i do not always feel "part of the whole" here.... again you are NOT alone. Look at it this way, take what you like from this forum. There are A LOT of threads that i am not into, wine threads, fine dining, etc. They are not my thing.... but i like the kitchen forum, when recipes are discussed, or bbq places, casual dining places... so i read and sometimes comment on those. Please reconsider....... everyone's input is important and it only takes ONE to make a difference.

I'm sorry, but I see nothing condenscending in Kathy's reply to Bev. I don't see her trying to lecture her. She just simply wanted to let her know that if she would prefer pan fried oysters where she could get them. My comment about Bev being snippy was simply that I thought she was being a bit curt, and to leave the forum because of my and other people's posts is very childish IMO. Kathy's latest post apologising to Bev was nice but IMO completely unnecessary. On a personal note, i don't care if they are rolled or pan fried because I don't eat them!!

Thank you Becky for your encouragement , Allison I hope you have read my response to Kathy as well where I also said I was sorry...I don't like being called down by you or anyone else on this forum as I am an adult and while that being said I will say I am sorry when I feel I am/was wrong.
