Great job Melissa!
The 10th should work for me (checking on flight time), the later the better and the other dates look good too. I am fine with any start time.
I will investigate Mom's/MERF and how it is structured and I will gather some info about 501c3 setup.

Melissa, I have a commitment on Monday evenings, and Sunday evenings through April 10. Sunday afternoon or evening April 17 and 24 should be okay, although note that April 24 is Easter.

It might be good to include Mary, too. She's been involved in 501(c)3 non-profit administration for a long time and knows a lot about the rules-and-regulations and how they work in the real world.

Melissa- thanks so much for bringing this back to life. It is an amazing idea and has evidently hit a strong chord. I'd love to be included in this- I have a little familiarity with 501c3 management (thought it was years ago) and with fundraising.
Any time on Sundays or Mon eves after 5 work well for me except for 4/11.
Looking forward to seeing this idea fly.

Well I was going to second Dan's idea of having the first meeting at my place but I guess I'm to late! I don't have to be open to host a meeting, I own the place and live 2 blocks away. Since I would like to host a event for this in the future I thought it might be good for the powers that be to actually see the set up I have. I have a large space, perfect for a meeting, I could put out food, but you'd have to byob cause my bar is not set up yet.

I don't have the expertise that most of you have, but I have plenty of time. If I can be an asset to the group, please count me in.

Thanks for all the response thus far!

Michele - I just didn't want to be putting you out! If you don't mind opening up for us on a Sunday afternoon, it would be great! Looks like to accomodate most, the day we should be looking at is Sunday, April 18 at 4 or 5pm. Does that work for you to host, Michele? Does that work for everyone thus far?

this idea is absolute WIN!
these are the moments that make me proud to be human.
i will GLADLY tithe a meager amount weekly, monthly, whatever... from now until the sun burns out to be a part of this and do my part to help take care of people. hell, i might need it one day.

my dearly departed uncle Steve Ferguson, whom i love and always miss very much, benefited greatly from MERF and its warm human embrace when he had serious health issues, and i see no reason why this idea isnt one of the greatest ive ever heard.

this is what can happen when people genuinely care about other people.
count me in!

...miss you, steve...

That Sunday works for me, but I think it's the 17th not 18th. I'm really glad to be a part of this! I've been in this business a long time, this is long over due....

I've had the idea of holding monthly information sessions at Zanzabar on a Sunday afternoon with local kentuckiana farmers/artisan food makers/etc where they would come and talk to the "Louisville Culinary Community" about what they were doing and possibly bring samples of some of their work (especially if they were artisan cheese makers ;) ). For a minimal cost (say $5 for people in the industry/members of LCC and $10) people could come and listen to an expert in their field talk/give a demo on what they do and this would hopefully further educate the Louisville food community. It's the concept of lifting as we climb.

Anyway since taking over the Kitchen at Zbar I haven't had the time to wrap my head around this, but it could be a great way to benefit the fund monthly, especially if we have the attendance to bring in some interesting industry movers and shakers. Conceptually a percentage of the funds would go to the speaker for their travel costs, food costs, and taking the time out of their day, but they would also benefit from the PR they would generate from educating the public. I would love for the rest of the money generated to go towards this fund.
