Dislikes:

1. A fried egg on anything (doesn't make it better).
2. Waiting anywhere for any length of time for breakfast.
3. No salt on the table with underseasoned food.
4. Straws with a beverage
5. A bottled beer and no glass
6. Silly re-inventions of comfort food in a seemingly upscale setting - like $10 fried bolonga sandwiches.

Likes:

1. Traditional upscale dining
2. anchovies
3. Diet Coke
4. A growing respect and like for craft beer
5. Competant wine service

@Steve P - are you from Wisconsin? I've ended many Northern road trips in rural Taverns using the pink pickled eggs off the jar on the bar to soak up the excess Schlitz or Point (or Miller, or pre-buyout Leinie's).

@ Mark. Dude, you're wrong. A fried egg on anything, including dessert, makes it better.

IMO, you nailed it with these two, Mark.

Dolsot bibimbap would not be the same without an easy over fried egg stirred into the mix.

So, I'm gonna have to also say that this statement is demonstrably false.

Ohhhhh....I am SO down with you on this. I have been know to blow a gasket when after asking for a glass with my beer it shows up with NO glass and I have to wait another 5 minutes for one.

Dislike that many people like:

1. Frosty mugs
2. Ice cold beer - water from the tap placed in ice is cheaper
3. Mixed drinks that are actually alcohol and carbonated beverage
4. Too-large portions. No, I don't want leftovers, thank you very much.
5. Chatty wait-staff.
6. Flair bartending.

Stuff I like that other people don't:

1. Bourbon neat

I sure am a curmudgeon for my relative young age. That's where the bourbon comes in useful.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

You mean there is somebody living in Kentucky that doesn't like this? I saw that was one of the requirements to declare citizenship!

I'll throw in Caffe Classico's huevos fritos al caballos as further evidence of this Truth.

Agreed, but I prefer my bibimbap as my mom grew up eating it, with a RAW egg on top. I've been eating the eggs I get from Stan Gentile (Dreamcatcher) raw in a variety of different ways and never been sick. And they taste damn good.

As a chef, my likes are pretty simple.
I like almost everything as long as someone else is making it.

You would be surprised how much better that grilled cheese tastes if it's made by someone else's hands.
With over 25 years in the "Bizz" the thing that shocks most people aboutwhen I tell them is the fact that we all pretty much eat for shit while we're working.
I might have tasted the components of a dish while preparing them, but I rarely took the opportunity to try the whole dish together. For the most part, 90% of my meals while I was working in restaurants, were made of something I could cram into a couple of pieces of bread and eaten quickly while standing over the trash can, so whatever it was didn't drip all down the front of my jacket or on the floor while I was shoving it into my maw. So for me, having some else cook anything that I didn't have to make for myself, tastes like ambrosia and nectar from the gods

As far as my dislikes, I only have a few:
I don't do runny egg yolks. They actually make me gag. I'm a scrambled egg guy.
As for the aforementioned Korean dish, I'm sure some of you will think it's blasphemy to order it with out the egg like I do.

Escargot,
I don't care how much garlic butter you put on them, I think they are nasty little creatures.
I once worked at a place where we got fresh ones and then had to parboil them and pick them out of the shell with a wooden skewer. Seeing a bushel bag full of them crawling around didn't exactly change my mind and the smell of them while boiling resembled a steamy blend of dirty socks and ass.

Goetta, pronounced GET-Ah
My wife's family is from Cincinnati and this is something I had never heard of nor tasted before I met them. Unfortunately, I still feel like they played a dirty trick on me.
It's some sort of grayish mixture of pork and oats that's ground up, fried like a sausage patty and generally eaten with eggs. My wife puts ketchup on it. Blech. :x
It's one of the most retched things that's ever been in my mouth. I've even tried the stuff you can buy in a store and I think it still tastes like a pencil eraser.

This is the best way!

I was just thinking of the way our own Lee's prepares it.
