Hope Center For Growth is a really great organization started by parents with kids who have Autism. The concentration is on teens and young adults. This is a very undeserved market. There are no programs for this age range. The camp, that Hope Center for Growth operates, keeps these young people occupied and on a learning path when they are not in school. My son Wyatt has been to this camp for two years and it is a really wonderful experience for him and us. The goal is to buy a van to transport the kids to different activities. One of the things they do is Community Based Instruction- teaching how to shop for groceries, how to order at a restaurant, how to buy clothes, personal hygiene etc.... 1 in 100 young people have Autism. When my son was diagnosed, 14 years ago, the rate was 1 in 1500. No one knows the cause for the increase. But there is a real shortage in services.

Thanks to all the people that have bought tickets.

Browning's, Zanzabar and Dish On Market(they got the ACF tickets) all got their tickets today! :D

If anyone is heading to the Maple Syrup Festival up in Medora, IN tomorrow, I'll be up there with Chef Gregor from ChickeePoo's in Madison preparing recipes for the King Arthur Flour "Sweet Victory Recipe Challenge". He will have his allotment of 12 up there with him. 8)

All,

Update: We've been promised the event will be publicized in several local publications this week ( starting today  ), so we expect to sell alot over the next couple of days.
We are already coming up with plans for a potential sellout.

Folks- if you want them, and still haven't bought, now's the time to get them!

Question....will the tickets ordered online be sent to us, or will they be "Will Call" at the door?

Bill,
No tickets will be mailed. Your email confirmation is your ticket. We will also have a list. See you there.

We weren't going to be able to come at first. But my Mom's visit got delayed due to my grandfather having a triple bypass :? So looks like now we get to come! It's such a wonderful thing you're doing for this charity. We have a sweet child that is one of those 1 in 100 so it means a lot to us! It will be nice to meet some of you!

Alrighty folks...Thought we'd put out a little update on the "Rumble at the River"...

With all the rain and flooding it has been a tumultuous two weeks for the folks down at Captains Quarters. As many of you are aware, the parking lot and most of the deck areas are currently underwater. THAT is the bad news. The GOOD news is that the water is cresting and thanks to the extremely hard work by Alan H and his entire crew, their has been very little (if any) damage to the restaurant itself. The CQ will be closed until Sunday to allow for cleanup but we are confident conditions will continue to improve allowing us to go forward with the Chowder Throwdown....So to be perfectly clear...We're still on for next Monday at the Captains Quarters.

In closing, many thanks to the people who have bought tickets...Due to the flooding, etc, ticket sales have been a wee bit flat for the past 2 or 3 days but we are still confident of a strong turnout. Fox 41 will be doing a live promo on their morning show on Friday (with a couple of our chef's doing a battle on live TV). We're anticipating (hoping ?) for another spike in sales after that program airs. So if you've been holding out on purchasing tickets to this event, you might want to do so before Friday.
