Lame.

I haven't been to an Old Chicago in a couple of years, so things might have changed. That said, I used to visit a location in the Twin Cities pretty regularly...The pizza at that time was defiantly equal to many of the "popular" pies I've tried here in The Ville. The beer selection was pretty darn awesome as well... Something like 25 taps and 30 or 40 bottled selections as I recall.

Given the only the choice of Boombazz at Westport Village or Old Chicago in the Springhurst area, I'll take Old Chicago. Just my preference.

You took that when you had options like Galactic pizza and Luce? For shame.

I am kind of a big deal.

Pretty sure he is putting a Chili's there since he has a development deal with Brinker to build 40 more units. And Brinker was the owner of the building. That's all I know...

Bummer. If it's gotta be a <gasp> chain, I'd have rather seen Old Chicago and it's beer list as opposed to a Chili's.

BTW, a search of Google maps indicates there is another Chili's about 2 miles away. Will they keep both open ?

It seems like someone told me that Old Chicago was going into the old Max & Erma's building in the Summit.

Doesn't Junior also dabble in Wendy's ?

He also built, opened and quickly closed the short-lived Baja Fresh on Bardstown Road.

Isn't there already a Wendy's in the same area as the old On The Border? Tucked behind a row of several stores on the side of the gas station; just off Westport rd near Target?

the other one is located in brownsboro crossings where olive garden, chillis, and lonestar are. all owned by the same company too.

I've been wondering about that as well. I can't imagine closing the one off Hwy 42. Interestingly... the Chili's on Hurstbourne is less than 4 miles away from the On The Border building. Obviously, they will do plenty of research regarding the support of another location so close.

It's highly likely that the demographics - using a 3 and 5 mile radius - could support a second store. Using the freeway the locations would be about 2.3 miles apart. Using the surface roads - Westport to Hurstbn to 42 - the trip is about 3.5 miles (shorter if you know how to cut through Tinsletown to the Summit.)

With the growth and development inside that 5 mile radius... it is not unheard of. Remember the Kroger at Hurst & Westport and the other one at Hurst & 42 is 1 mile away. And that didn't stop WalMart or Meijer from joining the party. (Yes - a mainstream grocer and a sit down restaurant is 'apples to oranges')

I suppose that Junior could put a different Brinker concept in there... Brinker loves him from what I know. His development deal they signed in 2007 will make them the largest Chili's franchisee in the system. And he is a strong Wendy's franchisee also... top five (I think) in terms of unit quantity.

There is a deal pending on that location. I don't want to upset people working on that so I won't spill the beans. But the pending offer on that location is not from a national chain.

I have it from a very reliable source that the On the Border location will in fact be a second Old Chicago location. I believe they are looking to open sometime around Derby. I also believe it will be another welcome addition to the area for craft beer fans.

And speaking of craft beer selection and the old Max & Ermas spot...I am pretty sure that space will be a second Drake's location http://bluegrasshospitality.com/drakes opening some time after the St. Matthews location opens its doors in the Burdorf building

Will the Louisville Drake's locations have the same menu as the Lexington locations?

I looked at the menu online, and truly wasn't impressed.

The beer selection is definitely above average...I like this!

The menu contained lots of herd-pleasing standards such as chicken fingers, ribs, fish & chips, quesadillas, burgers, etc. It looked quite pedestrian to me. The only thing that really interested me was the bologna sandwich. I guess the fact that they serve sushi is creative, but I don't really see myself hitting up a KY-centric Applebees / Logans clone for sushi...give me Tokyo, Fuji, Osaka, or the newish place in St. Matts (name escapes me). If they do these standards well, that is commendable, but I don't see much difference between this place and a Max Ermas, etc.

Disclaimer, I have never tried the food or drink at a Drakes in Lexington, so I am basing this solely on what I see on the menu. IMO, I could do without a Drake's, but something has tro fill the void of closed spots like On the Border, Chilis, Max and Ermas etc.

I do wish them luck. DD

I haven't been to a Drake's, but the beer list and Summit location will get me there. While there's not much new on the list there are some quality choices. It would be nice if they add a few taps for local brewers.
