My favorite pizza ever is from Bacino's in Chicago, and I've never been to NY or has pizza from NY. I have, however, had many NY 'style' pies and since I frequent Papalino's, Boombozz, and others offering a NY pie I voted for NY style. Windy City makes a mean deep dish and maybe after a few more trips there they'll make it to the top of my list, but for now I voted "NY"

Again some of you are missing the point of this poll. It is simply to choose between these two classics. As I said I'll soon set up another one that covers most of the styles.

Pizza made in Louisville :D

No matter what geographic emulation, casserole, pan, deep dish, cracker, foldy, bendy, greasy, square cut, super thin or any other kinda pie you are looking for Louisville has it. We have some excellent independent pizza places here and I can't help but like them all!

In general, I like to fold. Therefore, NY.

Gotta confess that the wife and I have been slipping into "Old Chicago" with the kids since we discovered it about 6 months ago. Their beer selection is excellent, their service has been impeccable in spite of the crowds, and the deep dish pizzas have been hard on the heart and main arteries, but gosh darn tasty! I also like that fact that the place feels more like a location in the heart of the old city than in a suburban strip mall.

That said I'l go with the new category "Louisville Style Pizza."

Not to stir the pot, but I've been dragged into Old Chicago by friends on a few occasions and the pizza was horrible every time, IMO.

This. I came away feeling it was as if McDonald's had bought RichO's. It was all right steps poorly executed and then industrialized.

THANK YOU, John of Lake Wazzapamani! You wouldn't believe how shocked, shocked! people have been when learning that my neighborhood pizza joint (Frank's, 6506 W. Belmont) had pies that one would associate more with what we now know as New York pizza.

As for you not wanting to be rude, it sounds like the Louisville's gotten to you. Until then... don't you go changin'!

Adam,
I knew up front I would take a few body punches for my commentary so don't feel bad! I wrote my true confession, held my breath, mumbled a few Hail Marys, and hit the submit button! What was to follow was out of my control. But I feel cleansed for doing so.

I was more confused by the "excellent beer selection" comment.

You know what I like about this forum and/or Louisville?

The general disdain we are showing the original poll question.

I like Old Chicago too. For a pizza chain, their menu offerings are a little more inspired than most others and yes they do have a good beer selection.
They have a little of everything; from PBR in a can to the occasional very high end Trappist Ale that was made with Alpine glacial water and artisan hops grown in Himalayan yak dung and harvested by mute Jesuit sisters.

The general disdain we are showing the original poll question.

Especially since there is a separate poll for this type of stuff.
