According to this article, the beer's provenance is Brewmaster’s Choice of Rochester, NY (North American Breweries AKA the Genesee brewery).

I think I'll grab me a six and enjoy it with my boiled ribs.

Not certain that "flats" is a word I would have chosen as a part of a product name for beer. :?

Kentucky law has a similar provision. I'm sure if there are any retailers who feel a need to get a hold of this beer it would be possible.

Private label beers have a very poor sales history. The nations largest c-store operator, 7-Eleven, tried this same concept last year and failed. I imagine that once the initial inventory of this is gone you may never see it again.

From what I've been told on the sales of this over the past few weeks, this is coming true already. Someone will make that initial purchase, thinking, hey it's only 3 bucks, but the all important re-purchase is not happening.

We've seen many attempts at a lower priced beer over the past few years, but there is so much brand loyalty out there in that particular market that its tough to get a buyer to switch from their Bud Light to something like this, even if they are trying to save money. Typically they just buy a smaller package of their beer brand (ie buying a 12 pack instead of a case) until they have more money to buy what they originally wanted.

Saw a link online today with a review of it, and they had a picture of the beer poured in a glass. I did not think you could make a beer quite that translucent....

I bought a 6 pack today on a whim while filling a prescription - I will report back when it is suitably chilled, as they only had it warm in a floor display.

Canada Dry has more color and a better head and probably more flavor than that horse piss. I can't believe someone is wasting perfectly good water making that stuff. I don't see this stuff knocking PBR off the cheap hipster beer throne anytime soon.

Ok...

Not horrid, but pretty damned close.

Color - not as bad as the picture, but a very pale yellow.
Sniff test - smells like Keystone Light or other 'super low end' brews - a very light 'beery' smell, but with something not quite right about it.
Flavor - well, there is some... If you took a glass of Bud Light, poured half of the beer out and replaced it with with water, you'd be close. You can tell it is 'beer', but just barely. Also has a slightly metallic aftertaste with a side of chemically/artificial bitterness.

If it were July, 100 degrees outside, I had just mowed the lawn, and the stuff was ice cold it would be drinkable.
Any other time - pretty much a $3 package of 6 'portable flare up preventers' for my grill.

If it was the only beer around at a game or something, I 'could' drink it, but I won't buy it again unless someone has me at gunpoint.

Maybe the selling point is it is "green", i.e., made from 100% recycled materials...

I think the type of recycling done here was something along the lines of 're-capturing consumed beer and canning it for a second round of sales'.

As a followup to the initial review - I put one in the freezer to see how they would taste at the 'almost frozen' level of cold. It did not help.

I did a double take when I saw the display at the Walgreens on State Street in New Albany. It really looked out of place. I remember the days when the Walgreens in Indiana had a separate small side that was just for Beer, Wine, & Spirits sales with their own cashier.

I think they were doing a color comparison of the toy and the beer.
