I've only been here 6 years so my list is short.
Red Pepper
Primo

With luck I won't have to add anything else.

Me too. I loved Trattoria Mattei, and reviewed it as often as I could, back in the day. We're not talking all that ancient, though - I don't think it closed until the late '80s or early '90s.

I have very fond early childhood memories of GASP.....King's Table, the old original IHOP and Cliff's Truck Stop(Great breakfast) all in Clarksville. I also had a great birthday party at Farrell's in Oxmoor. 8)

Ray Parella's, Kunz's The Dutchman on 4th St. and Hasenour's are all gone and where I took prom dates.

OK...I'll REALLY show my age.

I grew up in Shively. In the early-to-mid 1960's, after church on Sunday we usually went to Leonhart's, a small storefront location near the intersection of Dixie Highway and Seventh Street Road. It was owned and run by two sisters. To this day I mourn the loss of their fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, and homemade pies.

Kunz, Kaelin's, Embassy Club, and Mims,---lots of fond food and family memories from all those spots-wishing they were here to take my daughter to carry on certain traditions...! Creating new ones are fun too!

Mike D,
Small world, but have you beat by a few years! We met my Grandparents at Leonhart's every Sunday after church in the 50's. Still have fond memories of the fried chicken, etc. Can see the sisters in my mind but can't remember their names.

Other missed: Kunz's (my Dad's favorite), the Luau Room, Embassy Super Club, Myra's to name a few.

In high school I was in love with all things French. Parisienne Pantry was one of my favorite treats for myself. It makes me sick to thing Cafe 360 is in that building. blah!
Allo Spiedo was nice. I met the chef at a cooking class at Williams and Sonoma, and then started going there. Loved the food.
Kunz's is something we would do on special occasions when I was growing up (we didn't go to Louisville very often).

The Lanai was my Dad's restaurant, it was a nice place, I miss it too. Neat big old building, you just could not sell enough to heat and cool that place.

Our first date night when we moved to Louisville was at Oldenberg (Grill?) on Dutchman's. I recall Mike loving their tri color chips and queso and he had some sort of keilbasa that he still talks about to this day. I loved Zephyr Cove - forgot about that place! The biggest miss for me though is Harpers. I work just down the road from there and spent many happy hours and dinners there. When we lived at the Willows of Plainview, we'd be there at least twice a week.

These are my most missed places from childhood. Coming to Louisville was a rare treat (only 2-3 times year up until I was a teenager) even though we were only in Nelson County and not 300 miles away.

York Steakhouse--I'm vague on where this was.

The Walgreens restaurant inside Bashford Manor--we rarely went there, so it was yet another treat.

Burger Chef--In the Louisville tradition, it is now a Walgreens at the corner of Bardstown and Watterson Trail. Up until I was old enough to veto dining selections, this was the go-to place for my parents.

White Castle on Eastern Parkway--I was hospitalized at St Joe's once and I was over the moon when my Dad brought in contraband burgers. I considered it sacrilege when they tore that WC down.

Eddie's Fish House--My Dad was an officer at an American Legion post which had fish fries. Eddie's was where they bought the fish, and Dad was in charge of picking it up. We always ate there when picking up fish.

Fanelli's Ice Cream--I remember going to movies with a church youth group and we would stop there on the way home. Pure bliss.

As I recall, whenever I was in a school group on a field trip to Louisville, all of my fellow compadres insisted on eating at McDonald's (there wasn't a McD's in Bardstown at the time) or Burger Queen in Fern Creek. I wasn't keen on either as I wanted something "more interesting." I always wounded up pouting because McD's didn't interest me. Some things never change.

We miss Stratto's in Clarksville and Applebee's Cafe in downtown Jeffersonville.

It was interesting to see how many miss Primo's! I'm curious....why do you miss it and how often did you eat there?
