The Louisville Wedding Network produces a wedding show at Sawyer Hayes, so there's a picture and link right from our home page. www.LouisvilleWeddingNetwork.com

Never could figure that one out ?

I do several bridal shows a year and that is a turn off that I hear from brides often, and also a selling point that I use often !
Mind you Captain's Quarters and The Olmsted the two venues that I am associated with full kitchens and very extensive menu selections, we cater your event, but if you have a venue you are providing at a fee why would you want to "peak" your client out on a caterer that they prefer ?
These are only the venues of course that do not supply any food at all

That's an easy one Alan. The Favorites rebate 10% or so of the catering bill to the venue. Don't want to pay? Then you don't play.

I'm also curious about catering ( and I realize that some locations may limit who is available, but I'd like to hear it all ) Feel free to PM too if you'd prefer to not have your thoughts public.

Congratulations Scott !,

Do not have a large enough area for 250 wedding ceremony on the river but if you are considering unique rehearsal dinner ideas, the C.Q Princess is a suggestion, the luxury yacht is very popular for rehearsal dinners taking you dowtown pass the bridges to see the skyline of Louisville or towards Oldham Co, where there is more of a scenic nature view ( especially in the Fall ) when the leaves are changing colors.
Of course we can create a menu to fit any budget !

Yes that's what I was referring to.

I hear of this often, and understand how it works.

But most of the future brides that I have spoken to about this, even the option of 10 to 12% is a turn off, of course that question is asked to the venue by the bride once she looks at the "preffered" cater options and asks if she could bring her own in.
I have either met venue owners or been to venues that there was not a "preffered" caterer and they seemed to be batting 1000 % , hell they even advertise at their booths at the shows

I got married in October...

We had 200ish guests and did our reception at the Brown and our rehearsal dinner at Napa River.

Both venues were AWESOME. Jerry at the Brown was a godsend, and really went above and beyond. It's not really a new or unique location, but it is definitely worth looking into. The food is catered by the hotel, but it was still excellent.

Napa River was a great place to have a rehearsal dinner, my only complaint is that the corn bread you get with a regular dinner isn't served with the meal, although our server was gracious enough to bring us some (or smart enough to not piss off the bride). That was my only complaint... and considering they had to deal with my groomsmen and my parents, I certainly think I came out on top of the deal.

Good luck with the wedding!

I had my wedding there years ago and we had well over 200 people BUT it was in the summer and we spilled out onto the lawn. You did mention an inside event in which case, yeah, I think you were right in your assumption. It's a bit limiting because of the choppiness of the rooms.

If you are still looking at places, my daughter got married at Yew Dell Gardens in Crestwood, KY in October. It was stunning and was a wonderful experience! Check them out. Congratulations!
