I like fruit cake as long as it does not have that fake rum flavoring added. The fruit cakes from Gethesame are soaked in bourbon which makes them really good.

Yup, sure did, but perhaps we have some new members. Impressions on LHBs is up more than 250,000 over what they were this time last year, so I think we have more new people that might not be familiar with many of the old posts.

So... welcome all you newbies! Post away!

I actually participated in the older threads when they were active. I started a new one so we could have a poll to actually see what people think about fruit cakes!

During college, I visited my Canadian friend in New Brunswick. His mother's pantry had several fruitcakes aging for the holidays. A bottle of rum sat on the shelf, and she'd douse them every couple of days. It was August. I never got to taste them, but that was intriguing.

Carla, the new members are exact the reason that I cited the old posts. I was trying to make it easier for the newbies to new access them.

Mark, I can't possibly participate in this poll because I don't live in a black and white world. There are easily as many fruitcakes out there that I don't like as I do. A forced choice doesn't show my viewpoint of fruitcakes. That's way I cited the older thread. I said my bit on fruitcakes back then.

Out here in the country we have a restaurant, "The Tea Cup". They have the very best fruit cakes I have ever seen! I have three soaking up the bourbon I injected into them. One customer lets his soak for a year!! On a food blog I found, 'The Bitten Word' , they let eggnog cure for a year!! Here is the link to that
