Went to Holy Grale last night.

Enjoyed it. Beer options were very nice. The median abv on the beer menu was 7.0%, not that there is anything wrong with that. I had a saison and a tripel.

Had a few appetizers - I wasnt sure what the menu was going to be like, there arent any entrees, but that is cool by me. They were good, nothing spectacular. I didnt try either of the beer pairings, they had a cheese and beer pairing sampler and a chocolate and beer pairing sample. The latter will get tried on some future trip.

Good crowd. Things seemed to be going smoothly for an opening night. Flow of things wasnt 100% there, but no obvious problems.

Somebody's got excellent taste. I think Point Reyes Blue and Red Dragon are my two favorite cheeses.

Lots of info except the second most crucial after their address -
What is the phone number? We don't typically go to a place to eat without seeing if they are on a wait. Tried the website link and it is not up yet.
Thanks

Its much more a "beer bar that serves snacks" than "a place to eat". High end beer bar with nice snacks, but still. I think a phone call would only tell you if they happen to be crowded right now or not.

I understand what you are talking about, but not really the type of place, IMO, that it make sense.

The Gruyere was my favorite of the 3. Liked the Red Dragon too, dont really care for blue cheese, but a friend of mine thought it was awesome.

We dropped by yesterday for a few beers and some snacks. The space is very cool and a great upgrade from Lonnie's, including the very pretty bar. The somewhat rotating beer list was well selected, with, I think, around 10-12 beers on tap.

For food, we had the fritjes with curry ketchup and beer cheese and the sweet potato & black bean tacos (fire roasted poblano, mashed sweet potatoes, black bean, cilantro, Chihuahua cheese, pickled onions). The food was, in my opinion, outstanding. The fries were rather large cut and cooked just right. The tacos were surpisingly good, with the pickled onions being my favorite part.

We went early, but by 5:00 there was a pretty good crowd beginning to form. Lori said they've been slammed every evening since they opened on Tuesday, and are still working out some kinks and refining the menu, but our experience was a definite positive.

Note that despite the tables, there is no table service. All food and drink orders are supposed to be placed at the bar. They're being patient about this, and were generally table-serving the patrons when we were there, but explaining that there is no table service.

I checked the Holy Grale out last week. I tried the thai popcorn and the fritjes with chipotle aoli and beer cheese. The thai popcorn is nice to munch on when drinking beers, but, honestly, whatever thai chili powder they use wasn't very consistent on the popcorn. I had one bite that had some heat, and the rest was just caramel popcorn with peanuts. The fritjes were excellent, as were the dipping sauces.

My main reason to visit was to check out the beer, and boy, did they deliver. I managed to drink 4 different beers and tasted 4 different beers that my friend ordered. After that many, it's hard to remember exactly what I had without having the list in front of me. Some that stood out were the Red Haired Jeanne, Brooklyn's Dark Matter, 3 Floyd's Alpha King (the only one that I'd had before.), Verdi Imperial Stout...that's all I can remember off the top of my head.

Not a very big location, so if you want to drop in, I'd say do it at an odd time, like a Saturday lunch or something.

Just curious - since the name of this play is "Holy Grale," would it be worth changing the title of the thread to "Hold Grale on Bardtown Road?"
