Big Ben's is NOT moving. Just in transition phase.Their facilities are being utilized by connections for training.

Restructuring and remodeling less that 3 months from opening does not signify a healthy restaurant. I certainly hope everything works out for them, because Norton Commons is becoming a foodie destination place. I feel that they were trying to do too many concepts at the same time instead of honing in on one or two concept ideas. Great place and location. It would be a shame to see them fall by the wayside.

David, you are speculating.... Big Ben Cafe had serious staffing and spacing issues that lead the restaurant into a restructuring situation. It happens .

We ate at Big Ben's a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it!! I got the tandori chicken and my husband got the fish and chips. Our portions were more than enough, contrary to other posts. Maybe it depends on who was cooking that night? My husband actually brought 1/2 of his potatoes home....was a huge piece of fish. My chicken was perfectly seasoned! The sweet tea was great ... and you know I love my sweet tea!!!! :D We ate on the patio and had a very enjoyable and relaxing meal!

We would be very upset if they closed!! :( Hope they work things out....Keep us posted!!!

The owners of Eva Mae's have taken over the restaurant in the basement of the Kentucky Home Life Building, previously known as Down to Lunch, recently 5th Avenue Cafe (I think) and now called Down to Lunch again. They have a hot plate special every day, some nice sandwiches, burgers and salads. Also hot chips, which the former Down to Lunch was known for, although I don't know if they make them the same way. The guy I talked to said they are in the process of selling the location on River Rd. and apparently have a buyer lined up. It didn't look very busy at lunch today but since it's Veterans' Day maybe nobody downtown was. My "Sassy Salmon" was a nice panini with smoked salmon, bacon and chipotle mayo.

We were in Louisville this weekend and I was really craving Tandori Chicken from Big Ben's. I know they are supposed to be closed for renovations or whatever but I just thought I would at least give it a try and call.....well what I got was "you have reached a number that is no longer in service"......I really hope they will be back but it doesn't sound good. :( :( :(

Does anybody know anything new about them?

Word on the river, ( or rumor ) is that Frank Faris ( Genny's Diner ) was looking at it .

From what I gather Cast Iron Steakhouse is going to occupy the old Eva Maes / Chick Inn location opening possibly in April ?
that is the word on the river at least.
I believe there is one in Jeffersonville, IN ?

There certainly is one in Jeffersonville, here's the website: Cast Iron Steakhouse
They only opened last December so I hope they aren't expanding too rapidly like a lot of places do! The menu looks pretty normal but very good.
