As Robin said, I try to buy local whenever I can, but there are some things I have yet to source anyplace in town, and for that I thank God for the Net.
Case in point, Mrs. H,S, Ball's chutney is a product of South Africa. Their peach chutney is simply the best I've ever had in a long life of chutney-gobbling and I tend to use it as a condiment on a lot of different things. Sadly, the World Market where I originally found it no longer carries my beloved peach.
Luckily, it turns out that there is a sizable diaspora of South African expats with a taste for their old favorite foods, so it's not hard to get online. My preferred vendor is cleverly named The South African Food Shop http://www.southafricanfood.us/ They're located in the US and ship stuff out very quickly. Plus they make their own biltong, which is basically South African-style jerky. VERY tasty stuff.
