Wow! Thankyou all for the wonderful suggestions. You can read reviews till your blue in the face but to have immediate advice from people who know food is priceless. I can't wait to get started.

I told my husband about the potluck and he thought it would be fun. I will check out the link and hopefully get a chance to meet you all personally. BTW we were at Peking Chinese Bistro last night. Don't know if you guys have tried the steamed buns but they are typically called soup noodle and found only in Vancouver BC or New York ala Joe's Shanghai . They take the dough and stuff sausage or crab and then add gelled soup. When the buns are steamed the gelly turns to soup. They do a pretty good version here.

Welcome home! You've got a great list to start with and will pick up alot more as you go. Coming from the lush Northwest I can assure you that we're usually not this dry and brown. Hope to see y'all at the November 14th offline!

We just tried out Peking last night too, very good stuff! It's one of the better chinese places in town...another good one is the Tea Station Chinese Bistro in Norton Commons. Also would suggest Wild Eggs and Meridian Cafe for breakfast.

Not a restaurant, but one thing you will want to do while in this area is run over to Cinncinnati and check out Jungle Jim's. Take a cooler and a large sum of money...it's like Disneyland for foodies.

One of my favorite restaurants in town - Palermo! Their steaks are fabulous, the chorizo is really great too! Well everything there is :)

I will come up with my top 10...and add! Hope you like it here. My parents live in Seattle, and I lived in Portland, OR for 6 years.

So nice of you both to join us Maddy. I'm looking forward to meeting you both. Has anyone mentioned Louisville is no slouch when it comes to coffees and teas?

Or that we're also a UPS Hub, allowing us some access to some awesome seafood?

EDIT: I almost forgot. We're also on the forefront of the cocktail revolution.

Finally, the bourbon. We got the bourbon.

Welcome...this is my hometown, proud to say! I am fairly new to this forum myself, but I have a few odd favorites in town that are not quite fine dining...lol

Dizzy Whizz--St Catherine St downtown---has real car hops you turn your head lights on for service

Mike Linnings--Southwest part of the county--great fried seafood--go when the weather is nice and eat outside

Franks Meats and Produce ---Preston near the fairgrounds---cold sandwiches to order, very inexpensive grab a soda and chips ....instant picnic

Burgers Market---Just off Grinstead dr -- has the best ham salad anywhere in their deli great for quick meals to go.

I am also a good person to ask about thrift stores, consignment stores etc...this is a big hobby of mine.

Again , welcome...sit , stay awhile...lol

I'd save that one for next Spring/Summer - take some time to settle down, get used to the city, and find yourself a good cardiologist first....
