Robin, not to step on your toes, but you kind of got your math wrong. The area of a circle is Pi * R^2, not Pi * R. The area of a 16inch pizza is more properly, 64pi (approx 192 inches but I'm going to just keep stating pi). The area of a 18 inch pizza would be 81pi. Extrapolating that for a cheese pizza.
$3 for a slice, with area of 16pi (1/4 of 64 pie) = 5.33pi per $1
$14 for a full pizza, with area of 81pi = 5.78pi per $1
I'm to lazy to figure out the exact math for toppings, but seeing as how it costs $1.50 to top a full pizza (81pi), and $.25 to top a slice of pizza (16pi), and a full pizza is almost exactly 5x the size of an individual slice, that means it is more efficient to place toppings on the individual slices (because it costs 6x as much to place a topping on a full pizza, only 5 times the slices size).
Hope that helps
Beautiful!!! THIS is how my mind works!!!!!
But the prices have changed. I believe it is $2.00 for toppings on an 18 inch ($15) and $0.75 for meat toppings on a $3.00 slice. Which changes the numbers slightly, especially when the 0.25 has changed to 0.75.
my three year old has managed to wake up and is wide awake, i must tend to him. If not, i would sit here and play with the numbers!!!
