I like to think of this as a new beginning to the neighborhood rather than Schadenfreude.

Really surprised that anyone would want to have to deal with that old falling down house -- regardless of how it got that way. That thing is going to cost some big, big, big bucks to get back into shape...

It's sort of like Whiskey Row, Scott. In the right hands, a sharp developer with a good sense of historical preservation and adaptive reuse could put in a lot of money and take out a WHOLE LOT of money. My bet's on the Comfy Cow guys. Folks who could do such a great job of making a bland shopping center space look like an old-fashioned ice-cream parlor inspire a lot of confidence.

What a nice development. I think the house could be a good ice cream shop, rather than the planned office space - a bit like the Widow's Walk across the river. In any case, go Comfy Cow! I like the quote from a neighbor that said they were hoping for a white knight and he arrived, on a cow.

I visited the Comfy Cow and found their ice cream to be "just ok" and overpriced. Give me Graeters and Homemade Pie and Ice Cream over Comfy Cow anyday! Did Comfy Cow copy the flavors from the other two? I wondered....

James, You just joined today and your first two posts are to take a shot at Comfy Cow. Are you a disgruntled ex-employee?

Where to begin??
I am very pleased that someone has decided to take on the HUGE expense of rebuilding the house next to Genny's. I think it's great that Frank is selling the property including Genny's and that Comfy Cow is going to take over and hopefully rebuild or start from scratch. I have known Frank Ferris over the years and I must say he is a very interesting guy but he is very kind and would give you the shirt off of his back (big shirt!). Although I have not dined there in a few years I use to eat there often for lunch and he was very generous to customers who might not have had enough money for their meals.
Anyway, I wish Frank the best and hope that he takes care of himself..

As far a Jim H's post... What a BUZZ kill!! Here is a company that is making a HUGE investment and taking a big risk to really improve things in my neighborhood and all you can say is their ice cream is just okay... Good luck to these people, I will be one of the first people in line!!!

Next you're going to cite the first amendment, right? Is that how the entitlement trick works?

Sure it's okay to be a fan of other places. It's more your style, and less your content that seems to be bringing you unwanted (wanted?) attention.

My only complaint about their takeover is that they haven't taken my area over yet. Where's my Hikes Point Comfy Cow? :?

Tasted Comfy Cow for the first time the other night at the LEO Reader's Choice Bash. Pretty good stuff, I had something that tasted like Chocolate with Cayenne. Love the combo, can't wait to try it in something more than a sample size. Will be nice to have store in my neighborhood.

Very happy to see something done with the Ginny's property. Have not eaten at Ginny's in many, many moons. After all of the drama the location has seen it will be nice to see something done with it. In lieu of cleaning, I would recommend just razing the building and starting fresh, fire cleans all...

My husband and I went there, ONCE to eat. He bit into his hamburger, and it was RAW. Not rare, but completely cold, and raw in the middle. He turned green, sent it back, and we haven't been back since.
